Just finished normal story mode. What now?
I've gotta say, I feel stupid for not playing this game earlier. One of my favorite game of recent years for sure.

Now that I'm ready for the next step, what would you recommend for my next course of action?

I'd like to try out DLCs and whatnot but I read somewhere that I should not do sidequests till 50 otherwise will be loosing on unique items that scales with my character's level. Is this true?

Also, I've got all the DLCs except for the headhunter series. Are they worth the time/money?

Thanks in advance.

You should start True Vault Hunter mode ( from the main menu, click on select character and there'll be an option to go into TVHM mode ). It'll be playing through the whole game again, but this time enemies will be at higher level, hit harder than smarter. They'll be more tactical and hide from your bullets more often.

As for "sidequest till lvl50" stuff, it's because when you reach lvl 50 and finish the story in TVHM mode, all enemies will scale to lvl 50 ( 52 for some bosses ), same for loots and mission reward from missions you didn't accept before in TVHM. So if you find a mission give cool, unique rewards and want to have them at lvl50, wait until everything scale to lvl50 to accept that mission and complete it. Missions that give unuseful/no reward in TVHM you should still do early, to gain some exp. For DLCs, some of them like Captain Scarlet DLC gives unique rewards, so you should wait till lvl50 to do it.

After TVHM comes UVHM, the 3rd playthough that's close to a nightmare at first, but more on that later.

Wow thanks for the informative response. So I guess I should not accept sidequests with good unique rewards if I'm to have easier time going through UVHM then.

Is it the same in UVHM though? Save sidequests till level 72 and so on?

Man I'm so looking forward to TVHM and UVHM. There's gotta be tons of great loots and challenges to be found.

In UVHM everything will scale with your level, including main quests, side quests, loot, enemies,... say if you first saw a quest when you was at lvl50, it'll be a lvl50 quest, but when you got to lvl 60 and check the quest giver, it'll be a lvl 60 quest. Same for enemies, however they can be 2 level higher than you at most. So on UVHM you can focus on story missions at first to have all side missions unlocked, without worrying about enemies level too high or two low compared to yours.

Thoughout previous playthroughs you should be able to learn what side missions give useful rewards for your character(s) and whatnot, and make decisions of what missions to do first, leave for later, or "so damn boring lets just skip it" in UVHM :rfacepalm: Remember to read guides on Steam and Gearbox forum, 'cause UVHM is tough sh*t.

Welcome abroad, Vault hunter :bandit:

Awesome. Thanks so much for the helpful infos. The borderlands 2 community so far has been wonderful. Sure sometimes there's 'that guy' who rushes to the stash and take all the loots but most of time people I randomly co-opped with took only what they needed, traded loots, helped my get on my feet, etc.

On Normal mode, do all the sidequests and DLCs you can. They help you lvl up and provide decent weapons.

When you make the switch to True VHM, you want to be more selective on side quests and save the ones with awesome gear until you beat the Warrior and get to lvl 50.

If you're going on to Ultimate VHM, DO NOT stay in TVHM too long after lvl 50. Grab all the cool lvl 50 loot, kill the Warrior, and switch up to UVHM as quick as possible or all those nice guns you waited to level up to 50 before taking them will be useless.
