Still leaves the sour taste in the mouth of having to exploit in order to obtain at least average rolls on those gamechanging items, but if that's the only way to go without using actual hacks or cheats then be it so.
Also, some things you can't even normally farm for - I want Tediore E-Tech Stocking Launcher (watched Youtube videos of Gaige using it), guess I'll just be on lookout =)
But the restarting of the game to pick up a quest reward is just terrible, and we're not talking about min/maxing some details like wether it has a Jakobs grip or if it has 48% or 49% bonus stats - those items are just useless with the regular rolls, unlike many drops that are mostly optimal at least.
And how high is the chance for a Love Thumper to roll with the 578k roid bonus? 0.1% ?
Then if you figure that your base melee damage is 132k and you get a LT with between 129k-300k instead in about 98% of all quest completions, i think we can say that to obtain a 100% legitimate version with max damage might claim the rest of your life re-playing UVHM without ever getting one.
IMO once you start editing the game files to circumvene that, you might as well give yourself all the top gear and then stop playing because getting the top gear is the only point of the game :)
So as i and others have said, in future games they have to do what they also did with some other items. First time you get the quest reward, after that you can repeatedly kill the quest boss who then also drops the item.
Also wouldn't hurt if there was some kind of relation between drop chance, rarity, usefulness and effort to reach/kill that boss. For example those Legendary COMs are pretty much free stuff, all you have to do is run in circles through Badlands and clear the Skag spawns, all of which can spawn a Tubby.
At least for me that is the purpose of the game, you kill trashmobs and bosses to get better gear. Which in turn allows you to kill those guys even faster for even better gear, and eventually take on raid bosses solo.
Hacking the files is just against my personal ethics, feels like you are only cheating yourself.
If you don't know, one of the best places to farm for rocket launchers is the Mercenary Day DLC. The chest after the boss always has 2 of them (along with some of everything else).
