Windows 10 boot up issue
Hey, Borderlands 2 will not boot up on Windows 10 for me. It booted up just fine when i was running 8 but now that i've upgraded to 10 it won't pull up at all. the black steambox that says "preparing to launch Borderland 2" comes up but quickly goes away and the game never starts.
If anyone knows how to fix this, please comment below with the full fix.

Locate the executable file itself, right-click, Run as Admin.
Currently the Steam instance seems bugged for some.

I actually can't find the Executable file :?
Which is odd because BL2 ran just fine pre windows 10 and i haven't re-installed

I don't think there is an Executable file, I couldn't find one either. The properties for the desktop icon read "steam://rungameid/49###".

I had the same problem and fixed it. Some .dll files were missing from the game so you have two solutions: either go to your Library, right-click Borderlands 2 and click on Properties. Then Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache, usually it will tell you that maybe some files are missing and will download it for you. Try to rerun the game. IF IT DOESN'T WORK, like me :I, welp, go to /Steam/SteamApps/Common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32/ and try run Borderlands2.exe and it will tell you what are the missing files. You can find them in the research bar by researching all your PC (Mine were in Old Windows files). Copy and paste them in /Steam/SteamApps/Common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32/ and try to rerun till you have no missing files. The missing files I had were MSVCP100.dll and MSVCR100.dll

If any of this doesn't work... Uhm... Sorry about that...

That is Config problem not window 10
Follow my steps
1. C:\Users\(YourWindowID)\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2 <<-this folder back up and then delete the folder or move to desktop
2. just Run Borderlands 2 then You can see the New game and others but Don't touch anything and then Just Exit Borderlands 2
3. the Folder Paste to The previous location.
4. Play Borderlands 2 on Window 10.

This worked for me as I was getting the error 0xc000007b after having paste the missing .dll files in the game directory (see answer given by kafreses)

Problem is windows 10 is an upgrade, so any accounts on 7 get kept and a new account is set up in 10. In my case i had a couple of duplicate folders, ie my pc, my pc(Nick name) My wife and I's account(Twice). Again in my case, i found one that was read and execute, the rest were full control. I deleted the offending folder,(Making sure all relevent data was indeed duplicated. Also make a link direct to the BL2.exe file on your desktop and launch from there. Had no problems at all since. Hope this helps. GL ;)

This worked for me too but i didnt have the rights to copy it manually. You can use thoses commands in the cmd (admin) :

***** COPY /-Y "source" "destination" ******

COPY /-Y "C:\Users\$NAME$\Downloads\common_dlls_for_games_file\common_dlls_for_games\Windows\System32\*" "C:\Windows\System32"

COPY /-Y "C:\Users\$NAME$\Downloads\common_dlls_for_games_file\common_dlls_for_games\Windows\SysWOW64\*" "C:\Windows\SysWOW64"
