You're probably just doing it wrong. Hasn't been patched as far as I know.

It's an engine problem so it's not going to get fixed anytime soon. You're just missing something.

Nothing has been patched, but actual merging only works for single player anyway ( since you need to pause the game ). I'd rather have the Pimpernel and Flakker fixed for Salvador ( which negatively effects co-op ) or Flakker - swapping in general. It's technically the same as merging, but none of that will ever get fixed, so...

No, speedrunners used an old patch to speedrun the game even before the latest patch which fixed merging. If you really miss merging that much you can do the same thing.
