There are a couple of notable weapons that combine slag and shock very effectively. Both are smg's. The easiest one to get is the Chulainn - side with the Zaffords in the Hodunk-Zafford wars in the Dust.
One thing with the Chu' though is that it slags YOU when you are using it, so if you use the gun, swap away to another weapon when you have stopped firing.
The second is the Florentine - available from the Seraph vendor in Flamerock Refuge for 120 seraph crystals. This one does not slag you, and is a very good smg for UVHM. The downside is the 120 seraph crystals to get it. Not easy to come by, as only certain raid bosses drop them in UVHM.
There are E-tech weapons out there that are effective slaggers, there is the legendary Slagga. There are the Magic Missile grenades from Tiny Tina's - these regenerate grenade ammo slowly and are very effective at slagging enemies. There are assorted slag transfusion grenades,...
Then there is the (in)famous Grog Nozzle. This has the highest numbers for slagging and healing - mission gun in Tiny Tina's.
I got a Vladof Shredifier that deals Slag Damage, which is also extremely effective (and being one of the only assault rifles that actually gets the job done)
AFAIK, all of the "magic" grenade mods from the Tina DLC regenerate grenades at exactly the same rate. I've never actually timed them, but I've also never seen anyone else suggest that the rates might be different for different types.
Interesting. I'll have to do some tests.
I play as a commando, here's my current build.

And no points at all in Impact (or Expertise)? Put 5 points in Impact, and add 5 from a Legendary Soldier class mod, and that's +40% gun damage, for _every_ gun. I can't see going without that myself.
Those were just the first things that jumped out at me.
