Game not saving, Progress lost
So I recently started the DLC for borderlands, I played for a couple hours and then quit the game. I started it up again and it was as if i had never started playing the DLC at all. Played for a little while again cause I assumed the cloud just hadn't synced properly, but the same thing happened again when i quit. I backed up the game, uninstalled and reinstalled the game hoping that would fix it. Same thing happened again unfortunately. I didn't receive any message saying that my local save and cloud save were out of sync, so I'm assuming it didn't save at all.

Is there a specific reason why it doesn't save my game and is there a means to fixing the problem? :)

Did you happen to upgrade to Windows 10 before starting the DLC?
Rakkaholics 28 AGO 2015 a las 5:01
I did indeed, although I was on the windows 10 technical preview for a couple of months and it worked perfectly fine then when saving... I played a little more through the normal play through and not the DLC and it doesn't save that progress either. I did a clean install for windows 10 and borderlands is installed on a seperate harddrive

There are posts out on the Web where people have reported that they could not change various user "documents" (Word files or whatever) after upgrading to Win 10. Win 10 seems to be making at least some of them read-only for some people, or maybe it's some other kind of "permission" problem. IAC, this seems to also affect BL2 for some people, so the game isn't able to save your progress.

There are some posts here in the forum with possible fixes.

If you did a clean install this shouldn't be happening. Is your My Documents folder on the new hard drive (where you copied all of your old info to), or are you using the folder on the old drive?

@Waste_of_skin
I'll take a look at some of the other posts with possible fixes thanks, i did try some but they didn't seem to work for me so far... But that does seem like a very good theory as to what's going on

@The Rock God
Well as far as I can tell I am using the My Documents folder on my new hard drive, cause I see that a folder was created for it (I'm assuming it synced previously cause i didn't copy it over) cause I know it saved correctly before I started the DLC, I had just finished TVHM with Terramorphous left and I thought it would be a good time to play the DLC... but now if I carry on with UVHM it doesn't save that data either.... Do you think it would work if I temporarily removed my local save and then allowed it to resync that it could possibly fix it?

On your new drive do you have a folder for your BL2 saves?
It should be something like:
C:\Users\accountname\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\SaveData\yourSteamID

If so, is there anything in it?
I'm guessing that you might not even have a save folder. Or even a BL2 folder in My Games. If you do have the folder(s), right-click on each one in descending order and make sure that they're not set to read-only in their Properties.

My wild guess right now (but who knows?): You don't have a BL2 folder (or a saves folder in it) or the folder permissions are are messed up. The game is loading your cloud save, but is unable to write the new save to the disk. This causes the cloud save to not get updated either (since it would sync the saves after closing the game).

When I installed Win10 I just copied the entire users\myname\(pictures/documents/etc) folders over to the new hard drive

I do have the save folder and it does have all the saved content in it. I changed the permissions of some of the files (I tried the read only thing and later i changed the permissions under the security tab) and it now seems to be working again :) thank you very much to evryone who contributed and special thanks to The Rock God for figuring it out!!

I am having the same problem but this solution doesn't seem to be working for me. I upgraded from windows 7 to 10 recently. I tried unchecking the read-only attribute for each folder from my games to the steamID folder but everytime I check on the properties after applying this the read-only box is filled in black again. I went to security and made sure that all of the users had all of the boxes set to "allow" as well. After all of this I decided to go to the steam library, Bordlands 2 properties, and unchecked "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Bordlands 2" (under Updates tab) and this doesn't work either.

I played this game a long time ago without any problem. I reinstalled the game recently and now I can't save a new character. In the main menu I delete a character and try to make a new one. When I go back to choosing a character my new character isn't there and my old character is back there (which is what The Rock God was referring to).

Has anyone found another solution to this problem?

Thanks!
