Bad Hair Day - Hammerlock or Claptrap

I do know that Claptrap's mohawk disappears once the player reaches Sanctuary, but does the same apply to Hammerlock?

Yes.

Hammerlock gives you a decent sniper rifle, so I usually turn in to him.

I've always chosen Hammerlock for the sniper rifle, bc at that point in the game (if you're starting fresh), you won't have easy access to a decent sniper rifle.

Shotguns in Borderlands are almost always garbage, cribbing far too many pages from the "I don't know anything about firearms" book of shotguns, wherein every shot fans out at a 90º arc in front of the muzzle, and does about three damage per pellet. A few with high accuracy are closer to reality, with a tighter spread of pellets.

Anyway, rifle. For a new game, a good rifle = 1 shot kills on almost everything that isn't a tough enemy.

Yeah, that and the Texas Striker, but shotguns are much less useful since the bee got gutted because "muh balance" in a non-competitive cooperative shoot-the-mans game.

Most shotguns suck but Moxxi's Heartbreaker is fantastic. Great spread, hits enemies I didn't even know I was aiming at, and does huge chunks of damage at close range.

There was also a corrosive shotgun I depended on for dealing with Hyperion minions, name escapes me at the moment...
