how good is the Hammer Buster??
ok, so I farmed McNally yesterday out in the Dust, and one of the times I farmed him, he managed to drop this weapon.

so for those who used it in combat, just how good is it in a fight?

You won't like it I don't think.
On the bright side it can be sold for a good chunk
of change.

well I never used it in a fight, let alone obtained one until now. its raw damage output for a Jakobs assault rifle seems pretty good, but i'll know for sure when I try it out in TVHM when I reach Liar's Berg

I freaking loved it when he dropped it. Very good against most creatures.
Like with all jacobs weapons, its designed for critical hits rather than spamming bodyshots.

For a Borderlands 2 assault rifle, it works quite well. I collect Jakobs guns, and it is a very good looking example of these, especially the bladed version. I don't really use AR's in the game, apart from the odd Shredifier. (My gunzerker likes them, ho ho ho!) I have used a Hammer Buster for the Crouching Tiger challenge, shooting Volcanic Rakk, but as a general weapon, not really.

Well i survived lynchwood with it (on NVHM tho) like a boss. Still has it and im at TVHM now.

garbage like most other assault rifles due to the broken crit modifier
Nevander 12 października 2015 o 20:03
It's pretty good with the Deadshot prefix, also gives it a cool name. It works very well if you treat it as a sniper rifle and aim for crit spots. One of my favorite guns for sure.

It isn't good, it's an average assault rifle which means bad. Good ones are the Kerblaster on explosive Axton and the Bekah on anyone. The Hail is ok and so is the kitten but both have vastly different play styles and take some getting used to. Just don't use assault rifles besides the two main ones: Kerblaster for Axton, Bekah for anyone else if you abolutely MUST use an assault rifle and only if you are competent enough to get crits

So much nonsense, sir.

now that you mention it.....

I just might farm the Volcanic Rakk for that challenge the next time I farm the Warrior

For that skin for Crouching Tiger, I just added that skin via Gibbed. Wouldn't be so bad if you didn't need like... what is it, 4000 kills? I ain't got that kind of time.
z00t 13 października 2015 o 7:12
The Crouching Tiger... challenge requires that for
Level 3 - 400 kills (IIRC)
Level 4 - 1600 kills
Level 5 - 3200 kills

I have only completed level 5 with one of my characters - Gunzerker with Hoarder ammo regen and used a Shredifier. I went to kill the Warrior for the mission in UVHM. I had something like 300 kills at that point, so close to finishing level 3 of Crouching Tiger... I thought that while I was there I might as well get the challenge completed, because of the never-ending supply of Rakk.
Reached 400, got the notification for Badass points etc. Looked to see how many more I needed to complete level 4. 1600? WTF? Are they kidding?
I carried on. Eventually, the Badass notification came up. You have 50 Badass points for...
Looked again for how many I need to complete level 5. 3200. OMGWTFBBQ are they nuts!!!?
I carried on. I don't know how long it took, but that was almost a hallucinatory experience. I went up 2 levels from 67 to 69. Killing Volcanic Rakk.
At the end I went and looked through the loot pile they had dropped. Rakk do occasionally drop eridium and other loot so... I found a fair bit of eridium, the usual pile of white guns, the odd green gun, and what I first thought was a blue. No, that isn't a blue, that is a Pearlescent! The RNG gods had given me a Bearcat. Volcanic Rakk can drop pearlescents. You will just have to shoot lots and lots of them. :)

Like sniping? One of the sniper rifle challenges needs 2500 kills for level 4. 5000 for level 5. 5000 sniper rifle kills for 100 badass points. You get 100 badass points for shooting 250 bullymong projectiles out of the air. About the same effort, I don't think.

Been there... :) Doesn't work for the Crouching Tiger challenge though does it? Unless you select an AR and crouch while DeathTrap does his thing maybe?
Last time I went there with a mech in NM, I launched DT to let him kill Jack. Which he did, and duly started killing rakk. Left him to it. The odd rakk will occasionally hit him and cause a little bit of damage, but I left him to it, had a break, made and drunk some coffee... He racked up (ho ho) over 750 before they finally killed him. Didn't have enough skill points then to give him a copy of my shield when launching, otherwise I suspect he would probably still be there.
