Fatal Error

When i start up the game have to load my character every time and when i click on continue I'm getting a Fatal Error and get this

I all so cant get the game out of lan mode.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled the game and Verify integrity of game cache and restored my save to one from 2 weeks ago and still getiing a Fatal Error

Fixed it.
This is howi i fixed it to any one that is getting the same error.
Backed up my save.
Deleted everything in Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2 then started up the game so it would put the files and folder back in to Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2 then moved my save game back and now its working

This happened to me today, exactly as in the first post. The solution did not work. Even if I delete my borderlands 2 folder from My Documents\My Games and disable Steam cloud (so Borderlands creates a new version of the save path it still doesn't work. I crash on "Continue" with a saved character or I crash on confirming a new character. I'm at a real loss here. It was playing fine a few weeks ago. Windows performed an update since the last time I played maybe that has something to do with it but I suspect this is a Steam problem rather than a borderlands 2 problem. Steam likes to load up presentation classes etc. that the original game doesn't even use. I don't think Borderlands 2 requires .net except for Steam stuff (Like the launcher) I'm currently trying to get things to work but having no luck.

I can't play the game because this bug happened to me too I tried Removing the folder form C:\My Documents\My Games\ and Deleting and Reinstalling the game nothing just VALVe keeps doing game-updates the wrong way I hope that Borderlands2 developpers will find a lucky way to bypass steam-loading files hopefully soon but for now :(
And I forget I had the Axton level 21 nearly fully upgraded character and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Steam corrupted it.

I'm having exactly the same problem, and the fix listed didn't help me. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem? I was playing the game fine 3 hours ago, and now I can't load any characters, even one I havn't played in weeks.

After I contacted the developpers about the problems (back in October 2014) a month after they contacted me back stating:"Please try to clear the game's cache by right clicking and clicking on properties)cont)) and I did what they stated and this error didn't happened again ^^

I actually tried all those things... sorry I didn't post back sooner but I actually fixed the problem with the age-old windows fix... I rebooted.

you dont have to delete and redown just have steam revalidate your borderlands 2 files and it should be fixed

wtf does "properties)cont))" mean, I have zero idea how the hell to implement your "fix" because there is no "cont" option.

Black mission, this is a formatting problem, It was meant to say Right click on the game then properties and go to games files and verify game's integrity which also clears the cache.

had the same issue, but then I noticed that my controller had swapped from player 1 to player 2; so I just reset my controller to player 1 and the issue was solverd
