MUCH more loot , which means more chances to get better loot because you are rolling the dice more often.
You don't have to care what other people think but you are only hurting yourself by using the Vault hunter relic , ignorance is bliss I guess.
For anyone else who might see this and wonder what the facts are , just look at the wiki https://borderlands.fandom.com/wiki/Vault_Hunter%27s_Relic
As you can see the relic is pretty useless because the bonus is tiny , it gets a better bonus if you play multiplayer and everyone is using one but even then you are better off just killing things faster.
The relic is a noob trap , using it for nostalgia or whatever is fine (I've done it) but just make sure you know it's not helping you , it's hurting your chances of finding loot by wasting an equipment slot that could have been a better relic that lets you kill faster or die less or anything ANYTHING else which would be more effective.
AncientBone is of course great but you are not gonna have that for most of the playthrough and need to farm for that.
For the hard bosses you will still want to go with a gameplay-focused relic rather than increased drop-chance cause getting 100% better drops doesnt really help you if you cant kill the boss. Switching right before the kill would always be an option :P
And multiplayer: having 3-4 of them really is noticeable.
Changing to vault hunter's relic right before you finish the raid boss would feel unfair though, that's why i never do it despite always having this relic in my inventory.
I either equip it before battle, or not switch to it at all.
The increase with vault hunter relic is so minuscule as to be almost entirely useless , it is NOT a 5% more legendary 5% more purple etc etc, it is ONLY a 5% LESS white item drop chance.
By lowering the chance for a white item to drop it increases the chance that something not white will drop BUT this still follows the rules for drop rates , so the most common will be a green , for legendaries you only increase from a 0.027% to 0.040% , a 0.0.13% increase.
It's a placebo , 5% less white items does not mean 5% more legendaries , it means 4.57% more greens. ( And it's still an 84% chance for white items to drop so yeah big whoop)
Do the math to actually compare these two percentages. 0,0407% is literally 1,5x higher than 0,027%.
1,5x to drop chances for higher rarities is huge, no way any relic will give you 1,5x killing speed when you are farming something if you will also take into account that leaving to the main menu and running back to the boss from the respawn also consumes your time.
On the plus side you will definitely get considerably less whites, tho they will still be the majority of your drops.
then switch back when done farming
