Question about "Vault Hunter Relic" and "Gearbox Weapons"

Long time ago everytime when i started a new character playthrough i got these Gearbox starter weapons and Vault Hunter relic that increases loot chance.

I started playing recently again out of nostalgia and i noticed i can't obtain these anymore when starting with a new character.

Were they removed? (I have all DLCs there is for this game)
Not that they were any super important or anything just curious.

EDIT: Apparently something is wrong with my version of the game and it doesn't recognize some DLCs as active no matter what

No, they're issued to any character that has the correct DLC available. The Contraband Skyrocket is also part of the set. They were originally issued as "Premiere Club" rewards, but eventually got rolled into the GOTY version of the game.

As far as I know they should also be included in the Handsome Collection and the Pandora's Box collection, but I'm not positive on that.

Check your enabled DLC (either from your Steam Library, or in-game on the Character Selection screen).

I have all DLCs enabled and yes that one is "Purchased" too
I just didn't get these items anymore and i used to.

I had a GOTY before and at some point i bought Handsome Collection to get Borderlands Pre Sequel and all DLCs cheaper.

So i pretty much have everything BL2 and BLOZ related.

I used to get these items mentioned when starting new now they seem to be missing hmm.

You can only gain this on none boasted characters aka back to level 1. If you hit the new game after picking to create a new character as said a none boast version. When you get your hud display from claptrap if you open up your inventory and it doesn't pop up with messages of your unlocks then safe to say you don't have the abltiy to gain those items for some reason since it should pop up with a message.

Either reinstall the DLC's in steam by unchecking them and then re ticking them again to reinstall or try to make sure your game is working correctly by verifying the files or even reinstalling the game all over again.



BTW i don't know why you want those apart from the relic. As the guns are pretty worthless sure they are ok for about 3-4 levels but yeah once your level 5 they are pointless to keep any longer and since you wouldn't be able to upgrade your inventory for bit longer it will only limit you by holding on to them.


The relic only worth thing since it does help getting those legendary gears by slightly uping the drop chance rate what for most is only 10% for normal but TVHM and above can be at least 20% but still 20% is still sort of a low roll to even gain one of the legendary loot, so the relic for sure comes bit in handy for grinding loot but since it doesn't do a huge boast some people just don't bother with the relic as well.

I did start a completely new character yes.
Didn't get them tried making another "non boasted" character to test it same thing i don't get these anymore.

As for reinstalling and re-verifying i had to do that anyways cause for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason i cannot exit the game anymore now. The "Yes" when clicking Quit does absolutely nothing. It was working perfectly fine in previous session today. Now it didn't even after verifying the game.

I'm gonna see if it works again now after full reinstall and PC restard ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell i don't remember BL2 being this buggy before and i am playing it on same PC.

EDIT: Nope it still won't let me exit the game the Yes when asking if i want to Quit does nothing still .. what the ♥♥♥♥.

Well yeah BL2 has always been a bit buggy but yeah not that buggy as far as i know of. Something is quite wrong with your game indeed that goes beyond trying to fix the gaining those starter gear and well would focus on that first since that might also fix this problem your having.


Anyways i hope to hear you come back to tell the reinstall and the reset did some good or at least sorted out the game working better for you. :)

Reinstall did nothing the Exit is still broken i made a separate thread about it.
I tried wiping my save completely too still broken (Exit does not work and no bonus starting items)

Yeaaahhh took me like 20 mins to write as i thought about writing a bunch of other stuff but thought nah no need and so deleted that like 18 mins of effort. And just posted that, so yeah as soon as steam refreshed this thread from me posting my comment only then saw you edit. And then not long after that saw the new thread created in my notification feed, so i do know about your new thread.

Wish you luck someone will come to the aid. Other then checking your firewall/storage device is working as intend and that bl2 isn't just read only when it should be both i wouldn't know how to really fix your problem your having sadly other then that at this point.

I'm ready to give up to be honest. I doubt anyone will help me with this this is such a odd and obscure issue that i can't even find any results when looking up.

And it "just happened" i didn't change anything on my device and i noticed it when i made a new character to test again if the bonus items work.

Now the "Exit" is pernamently broken no matter what i try to do to fix it.
(Just the confirmation "Yes" when it asks if i really want to exit)

Exit Game through Steam Overlay does work tho so i guess that saves me some hassle of killing the process.

Well ... sorry to say, but it's something to do with your local copy of the game.

I don't recall all the details on the config files, but I hear those can get corrupted and cause various issues, maybe try deleting/resetting those?

I did mention i wiped my save which by that i meant i disabled the steam cloud and deleted my BL2 config and save files folder in My Documents

That didn't help with lack of bonus items on new char or the Exit issue.
However the Exit issue fixed itself not long ago (I did absolutely nothing i gave up and decided to just play the game for a bit on my current new save and after i was done i could exit normally)

I wouldn't be surprised if all these issues were not with my game but with the linked SHIFT account itself causing issues in my game.

Cause there is no way the Exit issue just started happening and not even reinstall and complete config/save wipe did fix it. Then it just fixed itself without me doing anything.

Lack of bonus items on new char is probably tied to that aswell.

And you have Handsome Collection right? Cause bonus items worked for me in the past while my BL2 was the GOTY version.

Full Handsome Collection is what i have now. (I basically bought entire HC for the Pre Sequel cause it was a bargian on sale when i got it - same account)

Then later still (when it also was on sale) I purchased the Pandora's Box collection.

So... I've got all three, but I did start with the GOTY version. Like I say, I think the premiere club stuff is included with the Handsome Collection and the Pandora's Box collection, but I'm not entirely positive.
