Singularity (slag would be best here) - especially if leaning towards gun build, bore is beastly on tightly grouped mobs.
If DMG is desperately needed, the Bonus Package (Leg MIRV) is rather easy to farm, Boom Bewm both have increased dropchance for it and with the multiple shild grenades spawned this can wreak havoc on groups of mobs. My go to mod when a character of mine changes the difficulty and suffers from being undergunned (as is most often the case, especially when going to UVHM)
Singularity Greneades (preferably longbow with 0 fuse time): Singulartiy Grenades are good for crowd control and you can group enemies up for some nice B0re shots.

True, but in higher levels Slag lasts 3 times as long, longer than any reasonable single use of deception.
