Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary
How many hours of playtime does it offer? How come the DLC's negatively reviewed by most? Is it only due to the fact that it was free once?

Yes, people are salty about it no longer being free and assume its included with the Handsom Jack collection which also just proves they cannot read.

The DLC offers roughly a 4-5 hour story + side missions and one of the best EXP farms available, also level cap goes up to 80.

Thank you, sounds like I'll be buying this for me and my friend once we hit UVHM

It's Negatively Reviewed for two main reasons:

First, being it is no longer free and people do not believe it to be worth the price tag. Seeing as it has only gone on sale maybe once or twice since its release.

Second, without this specific DLC people can no longer access the Overpowered Levels which were introduced in the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2. As OP Levels are only accessed at Max Level which this DLC increases by another 8 Levels. Basically, you are locked out of Previous Content you paid for until you Purchase this DLC.

Let's Call this one 2a as it expands on the Second Reason. A decent amount of people were also Salty that there old OP8 weapons were essentially demoted to regular level 80 weapons and they had to refarm OP10 gear in order to play at the new max level.

That one sounds like a crap move by gearbox

Quick answer.
I agree with what people mentioned above but i want to add something else...
The whole dlc looked like a rushed job (including the badly designed op9-10) for keeping people busy until bl3

That comment about OP levels is illogical. OP9 and OP10 were not "designed", at least not in a way that is any different to old OP levels, that is because OP levels in its entirety is just the developers taking advantage of the fact that the game recognises if an enemy has a level that is higher than your current level, than that enemy will receive damage reduction. That is also why bosses are pretty much always 2 levels higher.

Therefore, if you subjectively find OP levels to be fundamentally flawed, that is a flaw of OP levels itself not the DLC.

People posted negative reviews on it because of it's price, and the fact of Bl3 being an Epic Games exclusive

Right...i need to explain myself better
They added 2 more op levels = tougher enemies
They doubled the hp of raid bosses
But of course they didn't rebalance any skilltree.
That's why i think op9-10 are badly designed. They just said "Let's add two more op levels ,8 more skill points and whatever happens we don't care"
Now you need almost 20 minutes to kill voracidous with maya...just to make an example
If a character was bad at a specific raid...now he's even worse
Not to mention that they didn't even care about a little weapon rebalancing...so what was somehow viable in op8 became useless...what did they do? they added a bunch of reskinned weapons that deal more damage (there are just some of em that can be called new...right toothpick?"
I call it bad game design , feel free to think whatever you want but that's how i feel it.
Impact still gives melee damage...yeah , everyone knows that axton's melee is godlike

Okay I see, you mean that the fact that they continued the chain without actually rebalancing is poorly designed, that's a fair point. :winter2019happyyul::borderlands2:

I quite enjoyed the dlc. It's not too difficult on uvhm and has some great loot farms.

I'm guessing it started out as a dlc they planned to release years ago but for whatever reason didn't. The backburner area name a kind of a clue that the whole add-on had been on the backburner for a while. With the release of bl3 not too far off, they polished it up, added some lore to act as a prelude to three then released it.

It didn't bother me that it was free for just a while because I'm a l33t borderlands fan and got it the day it came out.

Theyve been adding links to the chain since they decided to add UVHM. They have never rebalanced the skills. Its worked well enough for something whose curve has been extended so far past where it was originally designed to go. Dont lime it? buy the base game and leave it at that.

Cool, why are you telling me? Not gonna knock someone else's opinion, if you want to then address it to him, not me hurr durr.

From what I can tell from the DLC itself it seems to use assets or at the very least the general theme of the cancelled DLC from the Pre-Sequel that was going to be known as Luxy's Space Adventure. Where the story was going to center around an intergalactic Cruise Ship where the passengers mutate into plant-like zombies.

Yeah it worked but they also did some patches, like cloudkill and lbt skilltree buffs. So it's not true that they added stuff and never rebalanced anything. After 7 years that the game came out i guess the devs were more than aware about the flaws in the skilltrees and could have done a little rework.
I'm just a bit disappointed (or as a goliath would say "I AM DISAPPOINT"), not saying the game is bad...
Still ... i laugh everytime i see melee damage on the impact skill
Peace :D
