Fatal error
When I try and load Borderlands I am met with a long string of text with the message "Fatal Error!" and I've tried everything but nothing is working. I've checked the integrity of the game files, I've moved Steam out of my program files, I've turned off Dolby, I've updated my drivers, I have fixed my config files and run the game as administrator, I've restarted my PC and deleted and re-downloaded borderlands at least 10 times. Please help I don't know what to do

Deleting them is the most common fix for the fatal error problem , you don't actually have to delete them, just move them to a different folder , then when the game starts it won't detect them and it will generate new default configurations.

This is the location of the config files C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\Config

I've had the fatal error before , it seems to pop up randomly so I'm not sure what caused it for me , sometimes deleting just those two files isn't enough , so a quick thing you could do instead is to cut everything in the config folder and paste it in a new folder on your desktop , try to run the game , if it works that's the fix , if it still doesn't work you can put the config files back.

If deleting them didn't work you will need to put in a little more effort , you can try to read the error text to see if it mentions anything specific , DLC , DLL , MIssing File etc etc, or you can copy and paste the text and try googling it for the answer.

These fatal errors have been pretty common , you can even try searching these steam topics for "fatal error" and see a bunch of them recently popped up.

Have you ever been able to load the game before in that hardware? Could you tell us whats your cpu and gpu?

Yes before I was able to load the game fine but recently I picked up the game again and could not load it up. I have an intel i5 11400f and a rtx 3060

Please mark Radiowavehero answer as correct, that way it will get pinned at the top and will be easier to find when others look for a solution to this problem :bandit:

No problem , I had the same issue and found someone else's post that fixed my game so now I just try to pay it forward.
