also, you want to get into UVHM these days as soon as you hit 50 so that you're not in the situation of fighting level 55-60 enemies with crappy level 50 gear that was top of the pile of stuff you could get in TVHM. Green gear at level is better than legendary gear that is 5+ levels behind where you are. You need to let go of your out of date gear and swap it out for new stuff at your level. That level 50 bee just won't be doing significant damage any more and just making you a glass cannon. That doesn't cannon.
Essentially, if you're level 56 or higher, most of your level 50 gear will be useless, including your level 50 bee. Ditch it, get a shield that offers survivability, if you MUST have a bee, farm one from the trees in Tina's DLC (easier than in the regular campaign), but seriously - I'm doing pretty well in OP5 with my siren at the moment. I have a variety of Bee shields and generally do not use them any more.
And yes, slag in UVHM+ is pretty essential. Magic missiles or a slag weapon will help you a LOT. If you aren't slagging things, then this will make the game seem like your weapons don't do much. You can pretty much ignore slag in normal and true modes. Not so much in ultimate. Longbow slag transfusion grenades are awesome if you can find them.
The need for slag also makes carrying the correct element for everything a bit of a pain (only 4 slots) so i tend to use explosive guns in ultimate a bit more as they're not specific with regards to shields/flesh/armour,. which means (unless i'm in say, a heavily loader biased map, or primarily flesh based map) i can have a slagging weapon in one of the slots, a primary and secondary explosive weapon and a launcher to get back up with in slot 4.
Oh, and the florentine is trash, ditch it. Looks good on paper but doesn't work very well.
Also consider getting a Moxxi weapon for health regen. If you're holding a Grog Nozzle, Rubi, or Good/Bad Touch, a percentage of *any* damage you do, eg grenade damage, is returned to you as health.
It's good to familiarise yourself with the locations of red chests on each map, a lot of which are hidden, but there are guides that list them. Knuckle Dragger, Savage Lee, Boll, Treants, and Scorch are easy farms that drop great guns.
This is also a fantastic list of ways to stay alive. http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/100-ways-to-stay-alive-in-uvhm/77751
Huh? You're joking, right? Florentine is the best Seraph weapon in the game, and the best plasma caster for slag. Its drawback is that it's a pain to acquire because farming raids is tough.
Other methods of slag are better (i prefer 'nades, scorn or phaselock as maya, but for anyone else, magic missiles - or even better use your seraph crystals to buy an antagonist instead), and as a gun it just simply doesn't do enough damage.

You're better off carrying a regular plasma caster.
2c, anyway.
It's certainly not one I rely on alone to kill enemies (although it does that occasionally with the Bee); like all plasma casters it's not accurate enough. But the combination of slag and shock is fantastic for stripping shields quickly, and it has an excellent chance to slag.
Perhaps what I mean by best Seraph weapon is that it has the least drawbacks (which unfortunately most Seraph weapons have), is incredibly versatile and is fairly easy to acquire. I've used it with all my UVHM characters. I like Magic Missiles, but there are a number of other grenades I need for UVHM and I find constantly switching grenades, particularly in coop, frustrating. There's also a strong chance of death by MM in crowded areas.
Especially on Maya who has slag for days via plenty of other routes. And especially on Maya (for example) she has so many bonuses to SMGs you want to use your SMG ammo for something more useful (proper DPS with a matched element SMG).
But yes, even not on Maya if i was to use a gun for slag, i'd prefer a slagga which is easier to get anyway,, or a pimpernel. But prefer using magic missiles.
Anyway, 2c. YMMV, etc.
For the OP, i find Gaige works well with explosive torque shotguns and other weapons where accuracy is not a thing. Basically guns with crappy accuracy generally have other bonuses to compensate. With Gaige, close enough takes care of the accuracy problem, so make use of the benefits those guns have...
Heh, to each their own, although I was going to mention to OP that shock is one of the most useful elements in UVHM. A further way to succeed when one reaches it is getting to grips with elements. Getting the right one, eg fire against flesh, will save you a lot of time and pain (and inflict a lot more on your enemies!). However, fire and corrosive have substantial damage reductions even on enemies who don't actively resist them. Shock and explosive do not, making them both exceptionally versatile against almost any enemy. Add to that there are few enemies that resist it, as well as the fact that in UVHM almost every enemy has a shield (further reducing the ability to use fire and corrosive unless you strip that).
Hmm... i find explosive to be the most useful element, at least in OP modes so far. Not because its best against anything in particular, but because its not 'bad' at anything in particular, and there are some really useful explosive guns like the Harold and (IMHO) the Kerblaster.
But i think the main thing for the OP to take note of is this:
UVHM + is where the real game begins. Normal and True are basically easy mode. Whatever your build is, you'll need to ensure that you make it work, and think about how the various bits of gear and skills work together. You can have decent gear but if your build doesn't work, or you don't play efficiently it won't work. Conversely, with a good build and player skill, legendary gear is not essential.
And you can't just rely on a bee for damage any more, because unless you're amazing at dodging everything and not getting cornered, you'll just die too fast (and when the bee isn't fully charged, it contributes nothing to damage and very little to defense).
The thing with Gaige is her Anarchy tree has a skill whcih name eludes me right now but when you kill an enemy. you can fully regain your shields at the cost of losign 5% hp. perma keeping the bee up. Otherwise ive noticed it takes way to long to kill whatever im shooting at.
I am using Moxxis good touch and MM nades along with the Florentine which is still at 50 but like others have said its good at stripping away shields and slagging. so then I just switch to either the Hornet (which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome btw) or the good touch. I do need to expand on my weapon selection though, I cant keep relying on SMGs due to how much ammo I go through.
When it comes to RPGs, aside from the Norfleet, which I dont see myself getting anytime soon. What RPG would you people suggest? Id prefer something with abit more AoE given how accuracy of Gaige is an issue.
So aside from the above, what are the must haves for a Gaige player in UVHM?
I would assume adding the fibber and sham to the list wouldnt hurt.
-Edit.
Anyway to keep the games sound but take away gaige's screaming? Good god is that annoying.
I really like the Badaboom rocket launcher. It's a lot easier to acquire than the Norfleet! The Nukem is also good, though has the drawback of a very slow reload, and the Hive is good with Anarchy. Other gear that Gaige can make great use of (though I would in no way claim to be a Gaige expert) is the Conference Call (with Close Enough etc), Flakker, Bekah, and the Seeker.
I think you can turn off player callouts in the Options menu if she's getting on your nerves.
speaking of those Relics, which Ancients relic works best? so far, I keep each version of the "Bone" for Fire, Shock, and Corrosive damage +/faster cooldown rate. But it's the "Heart", "Skin", and "Blood" versions of those Ancients relics that i'm really referring to.
The Blood is very good on Krieg or a health stacking Siren.
The Skin I only use on a shield tank Gaige.
The Heart is pretty bad since it's damage is only additive. I never really used it in any build.
