Chain Lightning vs. Lightning Bolt

So farming the Handsome Sorcerer today i came across a grenade by the name Lightning Bolt, and inspected and tested it and concluded that it is better than the Chain Lightning, at least the ones i have, i was wondering why so many more people are using a Chain Lightning more than this Lightning Bolt, they are basically the same except Lightning bolt has a smaller blast radius but better damage. If someone could explain this than that would be wonderful

Chain Lightning will chain its attack from enemy to enemy. It's a great crowd control item and most use it in conjunction with a Moxxi weapon for emergancy healing.

The Chain Lightning has a long range and works better against groups than the Lighting Bolt as the lightning arcs from the target to others nearby. You don't need to be quite as accurate when you throw it as the CL can arc to the enemy after hitting something nearby.

I personally don't like using the Lightning Bolt as when I'm ready to use it, I often don't have the time to aim with pinpoint accuracy.

Stats never tell the whole story in this game. Have to try stuff out. Lightning Bolt is the teaser for the real deal: Chain Lightning.

So.... CL is better against random mobs for crowd control, and LB is better against a single target (aka bosses)?

CL is better in practice all around, period. LB is weak. If you want grenade damage against a single target, get a fastball.
