Can you start a new character without deleting your previous character?

I was wondering because im on level 50 with Siren. But i want to start a campaign with the Mechromancer also. If i do that, will i be able to switch back and forth between characters? I dont want to risk losing all my progress with my other character *Siren* just to start all over with the Mechromancer.

You can have as many characters as you like.
Starting a new one will save a whole new character, the old one(s) are not affected.

Yes you can switch between characters at any time in the main menu.

But one time i accidentally click new game and my character went away. How can you switch between characters

You will get the choice - Select Character at the main menu screen. If you just press Continue, it will carry on with what you were doing last time.
