You should check the orginal Borderland gameplay from E3 2008. Thank god that they changed it to Cell Shading. But graphics is just a small part...the contents of BL2 and fast paced shooting style with little challenge and RPG are the things that make BL2 great.
If I got that wrong then, my bad; ignore what I said earlier.
*Brick punches you in the face*
*Mordecai pleads with me to talk instead*
*I REFUSE AND PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE AFTER BRICK, CAUSE REASONS!*
*MR. TORGUE ALSO PUNCHES YOU IN THE FACE CAUSE REAOOOOOW RIDDLEY REAOOOW REASONS!!!*
*Tiny Tina kicks you in the balls, cause that's as high as she can reach*
*Jack agrees cause Evil C u next tuesday*
*Cl4p-Trp is confused cause gearbox programming*
No it will not have any sort of microtransactions, just a preorder bonus that grans a bonus % XP gain, which BL2 had as well .
However, since BL2 had a bunch of micro transactions, and those are even more of a thing now than they were in 2012, I’ll be pretty surprised if BL3 doesn’t have some sort of micro transactions, even if they aren’t boosts.
You don't actually believe that do ya? There is no way in hell that BL3 don't have microtransactions! BL2 had alot of skins to buy and headhunter DLC's are not exactly long as well, but you think that with BL3 will be different? Yes... it will have even more overpriced skins, currency's and stuff to buy, be sure about that my friend.
I would actually be surprised if BL3 doesn't have micro-transactions. Look at the amount of paid DLC and so on for BL2 and they are well in to the idea of making as much money as possible out of the game. Several people associated with BL3 have already made statements that they see no reason why legendary weapons could not be sold.
I have always believed in supporting developers and as long as the items are optional then I don't see a problem. But I am starting to view 2K and Gearbox as cash grabbers ( why else would they go with Epic? ) so it's smacks of "greed" to me right now, which I certainly will not support with my cash.
Sorry to tell you this, but BL2 is full of this activity.
About the drop rates on the very rare items, the BL series games might not be your cup of tea but extreme farming is part of most FPS ARPG's including the BL games and it's recommended you like it as I do or at least not mind it. If you enjoy "cheating" in very rares, you can build whatever game items you want whenever you want them by installing the 3rd party software called Gibbed (google it for downloads).
And enjoy the game however you want
I love the game for the writing, graphics, acting, weapon design, level design, etc. It's a massive effort and well done, if you main complaint is the rate of looting, then perhaps taking a break and getting some perspective is in order.
