Do you share loot in co-op?
It's kind of frustrating when you are playing with random people since most of them will rush up and snatch everything except white/green after killing a boss. It forces you to do the same or else you will have nothing.

Yeah it's an old school idea in multiplayer "diablo inspired" games that as far as I know most people don't like. But it's old school and making loot fairer can be seen as dumbing down the games by some people (the devs of Path of Exile for exemple).

I personally do share the loot unless I see something orange I can use. That said it's mostly a design thing. You're supposed to "compete" for loot.

Which is really stupid seeing how broken the "balance" between the characters is.
Or rarther, the lack of any kind of balance.

But yeah, I play with friends, and it's never been a problem to decide who gets what, and no one picks up stuff just because it's rare. We see who benefits the most from it (For example, Zero can most likely take that legendary sniper rifle). With randoms, I'd imagine the loot system to be a real pain.

Edited: It's never, not "ever", obviously

I always share loot. Even if it's soemthign I wouldn't mind having, I always give my co-op partners first dibbs because there isn't any loot in this game that's needed to progress. Mission rewards provide all you really need.

But to me, a major part of the whole "co-op" concept is to let the loot go to the person in which it will benefit the party as a whole best. And just because an item drops that is better than what you're personally carrying at that moment, doesn't mean it wouldn't be an even better improvement on someone else. Besides, that just means the next similar item to drop will more likely go to you!

I don't understand what you mean about the balance.

I always share loot and notify the other players when I find good stuff.

If you're nice, people will likely want to play with you again. So yes, I share.

You said you are to "compete" for the loot.
The only way to do that is duel each other (If not making it dependant on "ninja skills")

So you have the option to duel for it, right?
But dueling is utterly broken because of the way the characters are set up.As opponents, they are completely unbalanced towards each other, making the duel system worthless except for funzies.

Racing to the loot is fighting enough it doesn't have to be blown out of proportions. xD

And hey I didn't make the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ games I hate that philosophy too, blame Blizzard....

I allways let the host konw about any kind of rare drop.. or any legendary or above.
Sadly people just take the loot when i host :/ like if you open chests and see someone open a chest with a orange in it, sure it barely happens i know, but then they just quickly take it and does not say a word about it.

Only answering your question, all good ;)

But "Racing to the loot" is what I meant by being a "Loot-Ninja" - It's not the most accepted tactic. Other players may still have to do with a boss or other mobs, all the while the greedy types haul off the good stuff.

So, there really is no functional "Loot System" in coop, only what the players agree on beforehand.

Torchlight II, for example, drops everything client-side. Every player gets their own loot, which is one of the nicer features of that game.
Of course, this sometimes means one or two players take longer to sift through the drops, but stil.

Torchlight does it right in my opinion actually. Path of Exile's dev think a system like this dumb the game down and make it less hardcore/engaging but I think it just makes it less of a hassle.

I agree with this philosophy 100%. When you're cool to your teammates, they're more likely to be cool to you in return. Personally, I only take rare loot if I'm convinced that nobody else on the team wants it, or already has it. If I don't get some super shiny equipment, it's not a big deal: I can always try again, so it isn't worth ruining the overall team experience.

Random people don't care about you. They'll just take everything and have a look at them later to see if they really need them. If you spend more than 5 seconds looking at an item, you'll probably get nothing.
Big Bad Wolf Sep 1, 2014 @ 4:32pm
I have that experience too, people are too greedy

You might be right, but in my view it's no big loss. I'm not going to really agonize over item drops in any game. Besides what I'd posted above, the fact is that I enjoy playing the game with or without teammates. Getting some cool loot is definitely a nice plus, but there's nothing I can't live without. If I didn't enjoy simply playing the game, I'd find another game to play
