How do I use Gibbed? [Resolved]
So, I recently heard about a little save editor named Gibbed, so I decided to try it out. But whenever I try to add levels and skillpoints to the character I'm experimenting on nothing happens in game. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
(I'm not in game while I'm doing this if it has anything to do with it.)

your level and xp have to coincide with one another, there's a 'sync' button next to each that snap that one to a value consistent with the other. if you sync the xp to a level, it gets set to one point below the next level, so it takes some fiddling if you want to put yourself at the start of a level.

to add skills, you can do that in the 'raw' tab in the SkillData collection. (the game doesn't let you have extra skill points waiting to be assgined in excess of your level, but it does let you have more skills than appropiate for your level)

Actually, it isn't, under Steam rules. You can read the Discussion Rules and Guidelines, the link is to the right of the main forum screen. (of any forum screen, even)

Just giving the info, not trying to be that guy, as people generally seem to react ballistic when someone points out the obvious.

But since you asked (or, rather, wondered), there you go ;)

In any case, I assume that this specific rule is mostly meant for games where cheating gives unfair advantages, but they are likewise very specific about it not being allowed, like, at all.

I have yet to see someone being banned for it by discussing here in the Borderlands 2 forums, though, but I have seen thread locks/deletes because of this - but likely just because these kind of threads tend to explode sometimes.

Anyways, apologies to OP for being off-topic, just mentioning it since ☣Syrrani☣ seemed concerned about it.

its not against the rulz, don't mind sirius's FUD

i guess you're referrring to "Cheating, hacking, game exploits" being off limits, using gibbed is none of the above... and as for exploits, lol, good luck conversing about raid boss strategies w/o broaching that topic :)

Many, many people who have been banned might disagree with you. But that was quite some time ago and the moderators seem to have either given trying, stopped caring, or probably just realized stuff like Gibbed and Cheat Engine for the most part aren't the problem. People using them to ruin other peoples' games is the real issue.

Huh, I've never seen that happen, must've been before my time?

I never ever saw sb getting banned because they talked about Gibbed. Even Gearbox stated that they have no problem with people using Gibbed because it saves you so much time to actually play the game instead of farming. I actually gave hundreds of Gibbed-Guns to people at those forums and nobody even complained about it lol

Gib is helpful. Why stay at boring level 72 when you can turn back time and level up all over again!

So...does anyone have an answer for my question?
eram Aug 27, 2014 @ 4:01pm
No one has ever been banned from the forum due to gibbed or stopped from posting about gibbed.

I've been doing that too though.
Instead of changing my XP I'm going to change heads and skin and see if it works.

EDIT: Didn't work /:

I think my favorite use of Gibbed is Eridium. I just don't see any reason why I shouldn't have a bigger pack and stash. Yes, yes, I'm evil.

That's wierd? I wonder if cloud sync is getting in the way and overwriting your local edits? Are you using windows (probably since you're using gibbed)? I have cloud sync enabled on windows and it does not get in the way of me making local edits to my sav files.

Really stupid question, but you never know -- You are saving the file after you make changes, right?

Slightly less stupid question -- If you have more than one character, are you sure that you're editing the right save file?

Try changing the character's name. That's probably about as basic, and harmless, a change as you can make. If that doesn't work, there's a basic problem somewhere.
