NO MORE IRON GOD????

So, in tiny tina DLC you get to Mines Of Avarice and there you will see a BADASS IRON GOLEM spawning...
a lot of people before have gotten him to IRON GOD by letting him kill his surrounding enemies.
i have read the wiki and watched videos that say i have to shoot his front core when he does melee attack to let him evolve to UNBOUND IRON GOLEM and after that i let him do his job.
so, 3 hours and over 15 kills after getting bored and he is still NOT evolving to unbound version....
WHAT I TRIED:
using all elements, using all kind of weapons, grenades. i tried both front and back cores, i tried to let him kill 3 other enemies on his own but he still does not go unbound iron golem...
ALSO A REQUEST :
can someone please tell me here if he has spawned iron god after the latest skins/heads update few weeks ago?

Yes I keep spawning one in the Docs, in that furthest area where the crumpet is.
Chubby/Tubby also spawns there a lot.

if you look closely and read carefully, i said IRON golem, NOT rock golem...

I was trying last night, wound up with that thing being alone and not leveled, I know I used to be able to, thought maybe I lost my touch, dunno....

did you shoot his tummy hole so his fire goes out and he goes unbound

You have to break his flame core before he'll be able to level up, it is sorta like a Goliath Helmet... only it takes more then 1 shot to break off.

Simple, Unbound, what you claim you never reached, is for his core breaking. If Iron Golem never became Unbound Iron Golem, you didn't break the core. Thus, he couldn't level up.

I got it unbound and upgraded a bit, but tried to go around to watch the fight, must have gotten too far away and it reset.

I had accidentally shot out a Rock Golem's flame core, and he was able to level up
