question about the Antagonist shield.....
ok, so almost everyone here mentions the Antagonist being the best shield to use in UVHM/OP levels, with the Blockade in a close 2nd place (depending on the situation of course). But my question is this:

Which version of the Antagonist is the "best" one to get, stat-wise?

I wouldn't say it's the best by any means. Blockade is better, depending on character. I would go with one with a short recharge delay. It will only launch slag balls when it has some capacity full, so that's a useful way of making sure they're triggered as much as possible. Careful when you're behind cover as they can damage you too.
ah, thought so. I had made this thread, since most mention these 2 specific shields, due to the decent amount of damage resistance they offer, as I wanna perform some shield tests on both to test their effects.
Blockade is great for damage resistance. I think it was supposed to decline as your shield depleted but it's bugged so you always get the 38% or whatever it is

I suppose it depends on what you want.

I have the variant with the fastest recharge delay and highest damage reduction/deflection damage, but it comes at the cost of having the lowest shield capacity.

You might find this[docs.google.com] handy for comparing shield variants.

Antagonist and Blockade are good tanky shields to add to your arsenal of good trick shields like the Bee. You can look for Antagonists with these specs which I believe are the current best combination available:
Deflection Chance: 50%
Deflected Bullet Damage: 761%
Damage Reduction: 43%

*****

But I don't think they're the best tanky shield in the game. My choice for best tanky shield in BL2 is the OP8 Anshin Evolution. Its shield strength is only moderate but its health strrength is extreme and together their combo can't be beat, particularly when you add in powerful protection against all elemental damage etc. If you're familiar with the popular Rough Rider shield, the Evolution is an upgraded version of it starting in UVHM. http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Evolution/Variant_Chart

Best stats are 50/48/860. Mine has a very low delay, around 2 seconds if I recall. Easy farm run from the flamerock spawn to the vendor.

Right thanks. Antagonist can be bot from Seraph Vendor in Flamerock Refuge. I believe Blockade still can't be bot and only is a rare drop from the Dragons. Evolution in NVHM/TVHM can be bot from SV in Oasis and in UVHM only is a rare drop from Hyperius.

thanx!!! I can't believe that both the Neogenator and Evolution offers an 86% elemental resistance (and I thought 84% was the max), on top of the 1.65 recharge delay on the former. talk about an almost instant recharge.
Yep! It's damn fine shield, particularly when you're doing something with a specific element (not necessarily so good against the dragons, for example).... I quite like a Big Boom Blaster in there actually. Anyway neo / evolution have a large shield capacity although like with most shields they don't stand up to a vast amount at OP8. The health buff is great though.

it'll also synergize extremely well with a version of the Skin-of-the-Ancients relic that offers even more elemental resistance (and that's on top of any skills that too offers the same thing)
