The Slagga works well as a slag source, not really as a damage dealer. You have answered yourself - 'slag enemies, swap weapons'. No harm in farming for a more powerful one, but not really necessary.

ok good to know .
i was thinking maybe a new one at OP8 will get higher Slagging chance
but its not the case so no need to refarm it .

Thanks

Slagga is a decent slag smg but I've never found it to be better than some other slag smgs. Florentine smg can be bought at Seraph Vendor in Flamerock Refuge - I find it more useful than Slagga as it deals combined slag and shock so you get the elemental benefits of both in every shot. http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Florentine

There is no urgent need to refarm it. A normal mode Slagga is still quite useful in OP8 UVHM.

Florentine chances 18% slag and shock. Slagga chances 24% slag only. Difference is so small that it's essentially meaningless. Search the Borderlands Wikia at the link I gave you to look up any BL2 weapon stats you need.

Slagga can have up to 26.3% chance from what I've seen, and it fires 3 shots at a time. It will slag targets quicker and more reliably than a Florentine.

I don't think the prefix indicates the elemental chance %. The 26.3%s in my inventory are "Akurate" and "Cuting".

My Slagga @ 24% has a prefix of Bulets Go Fasterifed - agree prefixes don't indicate elemental damage. They can indicate other gun specs depending on gun type, it's complicated but here's the chart for BL2 / BLTPS > http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Weapons_by_prefix_(Borderlands_2_%26_Pre-Sequel)

The elemental % variance is due to gun parts, not prefix. Maliwan, as a company, is about elements, so the Maliwan style parts all boost Elemental apply chance, and damage over time(when possible).

So if your Slagga has Maliwan parts, the slag chance is higher than normal :D

More specifically a Maliwan grip will increase the elemental effect chance.
