Axton is the pudding of BL2... literally.

I've played all characters to a high lvl and without a doubt, Axton is by far
the squishiest hero when it comes to survivability vs dps.
Yesterday just for kicks i tried doing the Bar-room brawl to test his mettle
and he was found lacking.... a lot. Given some of the weapons were 4lvls beneath
his own.. but even tho this is the gazillion weapons-game, finding a good upgrade
doesn't happen every level and some times you have to play several levels before
a single upgrade drops or is rewarded.. and TVHM is locked lvlwise which
means certain weapons only drops at a certain max lvl, like Layuda L35 max...

Back to the Bar-brawl, i have NEVER died so much on ANY character
as i did with Axton. Even at L49 against L51 mobs, using a turretbuild
with a high capacity shield and some points into survivability... the shield lasted
nothing and whatever little health he has, gets annihilated instantly by the shotgunners.

Ontop of that, the turret - altho situationally powerful - gets instantly taken out
by 2 badasses bashing it, AND it's stationary and long CD which means that
once the turret is KIA, whatever survivability Axton had, is reduced to jumping around
like a monkey trying to avoid getting killed while spamming leech-slag grenades.

Whenever i run the Bar-brawl on my Mecromancer, Krieg or Maya, it's a total
annihilation of the enemies.. Krieg just 1shots any badass with his melee build,
Maya renders entire rooms helpless and slagged , and my Mecromancer runs from
room to room shocking everything while the robot solo's the badasses.


So WHERE is the strength of Axton ?. Because so far, i've yet to be as impressed
as i've been of ANY of the other heroes... Even Zer0 which is suppose to be the
squishy ninja, easly cleans the Bar Brawl - compared to Axton.

Never played Axton because of what i have heard about him. Until i hear something more positive guess i will hold off. The turret looks cool but if the character has inherent weakness guess i'll hold off.

this is old news either way any vault hunter can do all the content in the game its just objectively easier for some than others due to gimmicks

And yet... I managed to solo Axton to OP8. I could do everything solo without glitches at that level except for Vorac and the Dragons. He can create windows of quite high damage if you synergize your gear and build. Though there is some truth to what you say, it can be overcome. It's all there in his skilltree and available gear.

I do remember reading that being the most handsome of them all comes at a cost. It was a design decision to balance out his awesomeness.

it prob has to do with axtons explosive/launcher synergies ppl like to do the norfleet exploit in the bar room alot

I don't even own a northfleet. My Krieg just rampages through the bar,
Maya melts everything with phase, etc etc. Axton simply doesn't have anything
that matches either of the other heroes in terms of raw power and mobility.

dude you clearly don't know or understand the power of the norfleet then in a place like the bar room its best on gaige and axton and u say u melt stuff but not make it unexist that is what the norfleet does besides it takes time with krieg or maya provided ur not using the norfleet cuz u gotta go room to room

from what i've heard, axton need to rely so much on explosive builds to survive end game challenges. the turrets are mostly just distractions or slag tools, but their shields can be useful to protect from 1 slow huge damage attack from 1 or 2 dangerous enemies.

Its simply bad skill trees been given to the character. More base damage needed.

For Guerilla, you didn't get shield recharge rate and delay, and you also skipped regenerating health every time you hit an enemy (not kill, just damage). I also have +35% gun damage and my reload speed is up 56%.

In Gunpowder, I have weapon swap speed and aim speed up +98%. I also have added recoil reduction, larger magazines, and higher grenade and rocket launcher damage. Regular damage is %40 higher for a total +75% to damage from guerrilla.

You've spent 10 points on Survival, whereas, I have those two perks maxed and doubled from my Mod, plus, I have even less shield delay, -40% to elemental duration, and an additional 8% damage with increased movement speed in Fight for your Life. I've also added a shield to my turret that I can step into once it's deployed.

The site doesn't account for your Mod or Relic, but mine give me a ton of extra stuff. My Relic is +40% health, and the Mod is the Legendary Soldier Class Mod:

Cooldown Rate +30%
Gun Damage +24%
Fire Rate +17%

+5 Sentry Skill
+5 Ready Skill
+5 Impact Skill
+5 Healthy Skill
+5 Preparation Skill

I like it.

I have more health and damage than any other character I have played, and I use the Bar Room Brawl to max out my Tokens and buy Torgue equipment.

20 tokens a play, so I've literally gotten the 618 I need for the weapon of the day twice.

Done nothing but solo Axton. All the way to OP8.

Did a story re-set. Leveled to 80 so I could get to OP 10. Never had any problems with survivability.

The point i'm making here is that for the lack of offensive power when compared
to the other heroes, Axton doesn't have the survivability to make up for it.
He's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ commando with tons of shield perks, yet even when carrying
shields with extreme amounts of shields, he dies very very easy, almost instantly,
even on TVHM when shot by a single enemy.
