Why do people hate the Buffalo/Elephant Gun?

I've practiced with the Buffalo alot. To the point where i can aim it about as well as a scoped sniper rifle. A lvl 28 Tum tum buffalo lasted me as sniper zer0 till after captain flint in true vault hunter hunter mode. Am i crazy, or are there redeemable qualities for this "awful gun."

Its damage per shot is good. The fire rate is so slow that it is impossible to build CA with them from my understanding. No scope. The increase damage doesn't make up for the slow rate of fire.

No scope is why, ya really need one on a sniper, that and sniper doesn't allow ya have that much ammo anyway even with all the upgrades from black market

Why would I use a sniper that takes three or four seconds to shoot a single round, when the lyuda can fire significantly faster and has an effect where the bullet splits into three after a certain distance?

These snipers have good and interesting concept, but bad realization and balance on UVHM.

Well thats the thing I don't have uvhm. What about everything before that?

Well thats the thing I don't have uvhm. What about everything before that?

But i have both UVHM packs. UVHM is free addition, btw, upgrade pack just increasing lv cap
For normal/TVHM Buffalo is balanced well, not complains about that.
On UVHM, however, Buffalo should have more damage per shot to be efficeint. And there's just more snipers and with higer damage per shot (like Pimpernel, Snider), or with just higher DPS (mentioned Lyuda). Even purple Jakobs snipers (Muck, DIaub) outbeats Buffalo and Elephant gun.

The're really nice if you enjoy sniping, but are nowhere near high-end gear. BTW, I just recently learned that Buffalo is not even the hardest hitting sniper in game:
