Why is it looked upon as the most cursed pistol in borderlands?

It isn't at all. You must be referring to the YouTuber Joltz, who seems to get Gubs more than any other Legendary.

Back in ancient times the USA had a famous comedian / screenwriter named Woody Allen who made an Academy Award winning film in 1969 called TAKE THE MONEY & RUN. Rent it to see where & how THE GUB got its name & flavor text. That's probably the most effective way to find out about this accursed business you mention. For a Legendary Pistol, it's not terribly useful unless you wanna shoot a big clip of corrosive bullets in the general direction of close-by armored baddies. Have fun

PS @ Renfrew. Joltz is an old pal from his pre-YT daze & he'll prolly kill me for sayin' this but ~ hmm how do I put this the most politely ~ we're both of an age that went to see the comedy mentioned when it was released during our teens. That should be suitably obtuse like the OP's ref to the Gub as "cursed" which I didn't quite understand either ~ prolly a youth culture thing? :P

It was originally a Joltzdude139 joke because he seems to get it more than any other legendary in the the game, but it soon spread to every BL2 YouTuber thats friends with Joltz, as they also seem to get more Gubs than not, its a curse.

Has also become Confirmation Bias. Joltz does not get more Gubs than anyone else, but when he does, there is a disproportionate amount of attention to it. There was maybe one episode a long time ago where he got 3 in a row and that's how it started, but these days he'll just get one every now and then like anyone else and will just say it's the "curse".

I've got nothing against it mind you, it's all in good fun. But no, I don't think Joltz gets more Gubs than anyone else.
