Is there an In canon Reason why the vault hunters didn't shoot Jack after he killed Roland and put the collar on Lilith ?
I mean when he is giving the whole man with nothing left to lose speech right before he grabs Lilith why didn't the vault hunters just kill him?

im gonna be playing it again, i def remember that part too but its been years since the initial release and i havent played it since then. Though i would venture to guess there probably isn't any "Canon" reason as to why let the rambling madman continue on, other than "let's just give the man his due, hes already put me through hell so ima savor the last few moments and let him squeal like a piggy." And then that overconfidence is what gave him the chance to take Lillith.

Probably because the Vault Hunters were shocked at what this one man did to the most experienced soldier and the most powerful siren on Pandora. At least, that's what I thought.

Because if you killed him then, the game would have had no reason to continue for another dozen missions. You make a valid point. It would have made more sense if Jack had set up a dome force field that actually made you feel helpless as he collared Lilith, gave his grand speech, and then vanished. Just standing immobile - in implied shock - was not the best, or most believable.

I agree with you there really should have had him step in the dome where angel was turn on the shield as he killed Roland still trapped inside Lilith charges him he slaps the collar on her then gives you his speech behind the shield.

Yeah that would've been better.

That would also just make you hate him more with the so close yet so far.

I really do think that a shield around him would be a missed opportunity. Like, what if he put the shield up and your vault hunter tried to shoot him and he said something about the shield and then went into his speech?

Plot armor. The only thing I hate about his game is how Gearbox ALWAYS finds a way to extend the game's length with pointless "accidents". For exemple, (spoilers ahead) when you're trying to get to Arid Nexus through Eridium Blight, as soon as you get on the door, OH NO, Hyperion blocked the way! How incovenient! Hey why don't you go to Sawtooth Cauldron, do a stupidly long mission just to get some BOMBS to destroy the bridge? And Gearbox doesn't even bother to hide this, I mean, there is no problem if it happens a few times, but it's literally in every mission.
Unnecessarily long maps with lots of combat and optional mission objectives (it's only for a badass challenge) also fits here.

That is one of the worst plot-situations in the game, and sadly they doubled-down and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in BL3.... there you have that moment multiple times.
Don't really remember the story that great tbh but I believe the vault hunter doesn't do anything since he was still in shock for roland's death or at the very least I like to believe that was the reason for it.

I have to disagree. I believe they might be shocked long enough to utter, "WTF???" Then they would have unloaded every single round in every single gun they were carrying into Jack. He would have been dead and shredded long before he hit the ground.

To be fair, it’s Borderlands. I love the series but don’t put too much stock in the plot. It’s evident that the “writers” (if they can even be called that) are creating the plot as they go along. That’s evident by the many plot holes that I’ve learned to just ignore because it’s Borderlands and not Fallout or Metro or STALKER.

It would have worked out soo well if we just fired at him but he used was protected by the shield that was initially covering angel - and mocking the player for being unable to protect Lilith.
