Put one of them in clappy's stash and take the other one for a test drive. Swap for the other and then decide which one you prefer.
Roksalt can come in all elements and is on par with purple rarity Bandit shotguns, it could even be considered better with its significantly higher reload compared to traditional Bandit shotguns that makes it reload faster than every Bandit shotgun in the game. True unending firepower when combined with Bandit's above average Mag size.
In Borderlands 2 shotguns have different barrels which can affect the amount of ammo they consume (this is ignoring red text shotguns as some have special effects that can ignore this rule). When a shotgun consumes increased ammo per shot, you get more damage per shot, but this is not ammo efficient, meaning that the damage per ammo ratio is poor. Because of this having a shotgun that consumes one ammo per shot to take out weak common mobs and then a higher ammo consumption shotgun for badasses, specialised enemies and bosses keeps you ammo efficient. In the context of these two shotguns they follow the standard ammo consumption rules, so Shotgun 1340 uses 1 ammo per shot as it has a Tediore barrel, and the Roksalt uses 2 ammo per shot as it has a Jakobs barrel, therefore Roksalt has better DPS, but Shotgun 1340 will be more ammo efficient especially because it is Hyperion making it easier to land shots.
The 1340 is really just a blue Hyperion that always come with a Tediore barrel, which is not that great. Still, if you're doing an allegiance run or just like the gun, it's perfectly serviceable, just not as good as the Salt. The voice is hilarious, and the quest to get it is one of my favorite in the game.
And if you want the best of both worlds, you can use the Rocksalt with the 1340 shield :)
Though rocksalt outputs more damage and performs better in combat. I typically go for a 1340 shield, and not really a fan of rocksalt.
In this case I might just use a three way hulk, bushwack, or something like quad.
So basicly Nether of those, but try them out yourself and chose what you like. Happy vault hunting
KInd of a fake arguement - I always go with a 3-way until TVHM where there are much better shotties available than 3-way/Rocksalt/3140..
Playing a new character through normal again and the level 22 Octo I have seems ok. Its that or the level 21 critical conference call I have.
I don't really use shottys much, but i prefer the higher accuracy ones over the higher damage/low accuracy ones.
