Using a level 50 Gentle Octo (i.e. Vertial Grip - +2 pellet count prefix) as an example, you would have the following stats:
Bandit grip: 4750x12 damage - 92.0 Accuracy - 1.8 Fire Rate - 2.8 Reload Speed - 7 Magazine size
Hyperion grip: 4461x12 damage - 93.9 Accuracy - 1.8 Fire Rate - 2.5 Reload Speed - 6 Magazine size
Jakobs grip: 5135x12 damage - 93.0 Accuracy - 1.7 Fire Rate - 2.6 Reload Speed - 6 Magazine size
Tediore grip: 4558x12 damage - 93.0 Accuracy - 1.8 Fire Rate - 2.0 Reload Speed - 8 Magazine size
Torgue grip: 5039x12 damage - 92.3 Accuracy - 1.8 Fire Rate - 2.8 Reload Speed - 6 Magazine size
As you can see in this grip comparison, the Tediore grip wins due to its superior reload speed and slightly better magazine size, despite not having the best theoretical DPS. That's why it is important to look at all stats not just the damage and fire rate.

Generally the parts from the same manufacturer are best, but not always.
@Renfrew. Darn, I thought I was geeky having spreadsheets to keep track of my various prestige characters.
