Borderlands 2 Online mode Issue Fix

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, ENABLE CROSSPLAY.

Crossplay is the issue to why online services for Borderlands 2 are broken currently, whatever you do do NOT, I repeat, do NOT enable crossplay.

It is an absolute hell trying to disable crossplay as the game automatically starts in offline mode, and you CANNOT disable crossplay in offline mode, only online, which gets in a loop due to crossplay being enabled.

The game loses connection and then it closes my solo game. This has happened 3 times today and this never happened before the Shi(f)t patch!

Yeah, i thought that something like this could occur. So i didn't even gave consent to enable it after the patch, so their "shift cross-play" and "shift friends list" were OFF from the start. Also told a friend to disable them and he claims that he did it.

Still got an error like hour ago when we were playing and now we can't switch to online mode.

Having same issue.

On evenings of 3/12, 3/13 and 3/14 MST time game worked fine and Co-Op play was working. By Evening of 3/15 game starts in offline mode. If I change offline to friends only then game goes into a restart like loop and no longer is able to display the entry menu so that I can disable cross play.

Using steam to validate files does show a small file as not valid. A reload occurs which has no impact. It would seem that the load process somehow corrupts a file yet all of the BL2 files appear to date back to the 3/10 update which occurred before we successfully played on 3/12.

Not sure who is at fault here it sure is a bummer tho.

Went to 2K forums and it appears all of these issues including the February updates appear to be an interaction issue with steam. People who purchased directly from 2k are not experiencing these issues based on the lack of forum activity talking about what we're experiencing here.

Step 1: Turn off your internet
Step 2: Start up the game and wait until you're in the main menu.
Step 3: Turn internet back on.
Step 4: Go to Network Mode and click any of the online modes.
Step 5: Have a friend invite you to their game when you get in the Creating Online Session loop.
Step 6: Connect to their game, initially it will say failed to connect, but if that's the case simply ask for another invite and connect.
Step 7: go to Network Mode while connected to your friends game.
Step 8: DISABLE CROSS PLAY.

Cross Play is the issue that bugs out online play, and will cause infnite Create Online Session loops.

If this doesn't work, leave a message and i'll try to help you out.

I have a similar problem. My game is stuck in a "Creating Online Session" over and over. I can't do anything, and I did select to disable cross-play when it asked.

How can I fix that?

Well i have no idea what you are talking about since for me the game works fine and i played mp Yesterday and except one crash of lobby it's ok. So can anyone explain what the issue is really?

Not working, still stuck in the loop after accepting the invite

몇일 전 부터 계속 게임이 멈춥니다. 몇 초 마다 한번씩 1~2초 간의 간헐적인 멈춤현상이
계속 생겨서 게임을 할수가없습니다. 오프라인 온라인 모두 동일하네요

The game is just broken, probably on purpose. 2K tried to force people to switch from 2K19 to 2K20 and now they are trying to force people to switch to Borderlands 3.
