There are some wrinkles. The fight can only be done while X Marks The Spot or Treasure of The Sands is active or after they've been turned in. The body's still there but it's gone invisible after the mission's been turned in. Though he's the only class who can do this, Zer0 spec'ed into B0re can damage the weak spot inside Leviathan's mouth (even when it's closed). The rest is pretty standard - not a very exciting or rewarding boss - there are 3 parts of the kill bing bang boom - rinse & repeat to do it again. Look up the pages of the two missions on the wiki if either one's giving you trouble. Have fun
As for the Treasure Room glitch, as far as I know, you can still do it, but I don't think it works if you come in from Oasis. I think it used to, but there was a patch that removed the Leviathan's body when you use that entrance, so there's no way to get over to the Treasure Room door. You have to get eaten again to use the glitch.
Last I knew, it worked like this:
If you've completed the treasure mission (first or second), but not turned it in, you won't have to do any fighting (Roscoe won't be there and the Leviathan will just fall over dead).
If you've turned in the first treasure mission, you won't get eaten. IOW, you'll have to accept and complete the second treasure mission in order to get back into the Treasure Room.
If you've turned in the second treasure mission, you'll have to fight Roscoe and the Leviathan again.
I was asking more about farming him. It used to be after you kill him the first time you could return to his corpse (visible or invisible depending on how you returned to him) and glitch your way to the treasure room and loot it as many times as you want.
I have the Mercenary DLC, but haven't played it yet. Is the farming there like the Leviathan where there's a boss you can repeatedly return to for loot?
I have tried to get eaten again with no results. I know at one time it did work where you could return to the spot the lighthouse had lit as get re-eaten, but that was about a year and a half ago when I last tried that.
The boss in Mercenary Day is farm-able, no glitched required.
edit: The removed the Leviathan body in a patch, I tried getting eaten just now, no go, went to entrance and fell to muh reeeeespawwwn so I don't think it worth it anyway.
The glitch still works. I just used it (It took a while to remember how I used to do it. It's been a while :) )
One thing does seem to have changed. Like I mentioned before, it used to be that if you had completed the first or second treasure mission, but not turned it in, you would get eaten, but then you wouldn't have to do any fighting (Roscoe wouldn't be there and the Leviathan would just fall over dead). I did that many times way back when, so I know that it used to work. But I tried it with a character that has completed the first mission and not turned it in, and I did not get eaten. I guess it's possible that it was only if you had completed the second treasure mission and not turned it in, but I thought it worked for either one. I don't have a character that has completed the second mission and not turned it in, so I can't check that right now.
But when I tried a character that has completed the second mission and turned it in, I did get eaten (and had to fight Roscoe and the Leviathan, like normal). And then I was able to use the Leviathan's body to cross the gap and use the glitch to get back into the Treasure Room. FWIW, I even found 2 legendaries in there, a Cradle shield (Yay? :) ) and a Conference Call. And that was just in Normal Mode, at level 20.
As for Mercenary Day, if you haven't played it already, every time you beat the boss, you get to open a giant red chest that always has some of everything -- 8 class mods, 6 shields, 4 relics, 4 grenade mods, 2 rocket launchers, and an assortment of guns. After you check that chest, you can leave the map and come back and summon the boss again, but the map exit is a fair distance from the chest, so, if you're just farming that chest, it's faster to just exit to the menu and reload the character. FWIW, there are also three regular red chests and several green/gray ones scattered around the map, so you could go around and check those while you're there, but it didn't really seem worth the time to me.
So the only part that didn't work the way that I thought was when the first treasure mission was complete, but not turned in. In that case, I did not get eaten. Maybe I misremembered that part, or maybe I just thought that it would work, but never actually tried it. <shrug>
Make your own thread, we already have a thread-parasite, we don’t need another
You really should have started a new topic. One basic problem with resurrecting an old topic like this is that you may get some people replying to old posts (it's easy to overlook the date), which just wastes everyone's time.
But since we're here ...
You're not doing anything wrong. The door only opens when you're doing the Treasure Room mission (the original or the second one). The "glitch" mentioned in some of the posts here is a way to get around the door. Basically, when you get over near the door, there are some invisible terrain features that you can use to climb up to a point high enough to jump down onto the area above the door, and then you can actually walk through the wall and drop down into the room. Once you get in there, there is no way out (that I know of), so you have to exit to the menu.
I'm not going to try to explain how to do the glitch (it would be pretty difficult to put into words). I imagine that there are still videos out there that show it.
However, if you're playing on a console ("Ps4"), I have no idea if the glitch is even an option. It relies on specific terrain features, which may or may not exist in the console versions of the game.
And, really, if you're looking for general loot, you're probably better off farming the Mercenary Day DLC anyway (no glitches required). If you don't have it, it is well worth it, as it is probably the best place to farm for general gear. I think of the Treasure Room glitch as more of an interesting curiosity than anything else these days.
