When to use golden keys?

So like on other games of this type, loot quality depends on your rank, and currently im level 6-7. Should i use my one golden key now, or wait until i hit max level?

Max level takes time, Id use 1-3 at lvl 30, lvl 50, and lvl 72

Don't worry too much about saving them for max level. There's only a couple of Golden Chest weapons that that are really good at endgame (Plasma Caster, Topneea. These aren't even exclusive to Golden Chest either). Just use them if you ever find yourself hitting a spike in difficulty or you want to try to mix things up.

I'd use one whenever you feel you are stuck or need a boost, so in normal difficulty that would be every few levels.

You should be able to get 200-ish or so keys from the still-working codes here: http://orcz.com/Borderlands_2:_Golden_Key

You don't need to cheat with unlimited keys. If you open that door, you won't be able to close it and you'll probably ruin the game for yourself. The struggle and the limitations are part of what makes the game exciting.

Before Wildlife Preservation, Opportunity, Bunker, Sawtooth and Hero's Pass. Going into these sequences with poor, stale gear can suck. Freshen up before tough battles.

Later on you can easily get good loot. Just use it when you are having a hard time finding good gear for your level.
