In other words UCP makes the game alot easier and not worth playing for that reason.
For Gadget - not true. Where are the options to use in the UCP that nerfs things that need nerfing? Those nerfing options don't exist in the UCP. There are only buffs in the program.
Haven't followed the program since V3 when the developers voted down our requests to nerf certain things. In any case, I can't recommend installing it for other reasons which I won't discuss here but we discussed in detail in the UCP threads on the Gearbox BL2 Forum back in late 2016 / early 2017.
Either way, its up for you to decide whether or not you wanna play on UCP. Try it out, and see if you like it.
tldr:
the reason there are so many buffs is to give the player more options. its not weapons like the unkempt harold being buffed, its weapons like the devastator, its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ seraph cousin
it also makes finding certain weapons easier, makes skills more usable and also allows you to redo quests mid game instead of resetting the game to the beginning.
its entirely optional and is enabled through a console command, you can lets say, play through ucp until you beat a boss, realise you dont like it, and then never enable it again
in the end, its entirely user preference, if you want to remain loyal to the "vanilla is best" motto then go for the vanilla game, if you want a new experience with more options, go for ucp.
btw, it doesnt really make the game any easier than it does make it harder. it just irons out many flaws with the game.
