There are rare(ish) skins that only drop from the dice chests, so if you don't have them...
Getting a random legendary is possible but with the odds being 1/400 at 5 eridium a go.. To quote a famous movie ' Do you feel lucky ( punk)?
As far as the treasure chest challenge goes, it is easy money. 56 treasure chests including a couple of out of the way ones, and occasionally when the Giant golem vs Giant mimic easter egg triggers, another 3.
Whenever I prestige one of my characters, the Winged Storm is where I go to max the treasure chest and several other challenges and make big dents in more - Colour challenges - green, blue, purple gear, Wholesale, Gun runner, 10 mimics each time...
My most prestiged character is my #1 Maya who is currently working on prestige #24. At prestige #20 she had personally earned 350K+ BAR, and I suspect is close to a personal 400K BAR at the moment.
I do this because I quite like doing the challenges, and find ways of doing them efficiently. The BAR bonuses are pretty much irrelevant to me - the last time I spent a token is getting on to 18 months ago. I currently have over 1000 unspent tokens.
There is a good series on YouTube by Gothalion about what it is, the best ways to go about it etc.

Yeah. When I am there with Gaige I like to run round and open all of them and let DeathTrap have some fun.
EDIT: Not 20% in most areas. 15%+ in most areas. 20%+ in the better skills. <10% in the least helpful skills, like recoil reduction or whatever.
My #1 Maya has well over 2.5K hours alone. The 350K+ is her personal contribution to the BAR total. I have several other characters I have prestiged at least once and without adding them all up from memory, I have probably something close to 40 prestiges in total.
The challenges are just something I like doing, and experimenting and finding the most efficient way to do them is fun. Some like sniper kills are just a long grind, while others can be completed relatively quickly. 5000 sniper kills is clearly the same effort required as shooting 250 bullymong projectiles. They both earn the same BAR points. The inconsistencies in the BAR system are a can of worms.
Going round the maps for vault signs again just means re-visiting maps I haven't been to for a while. Maya #1 has covered every bit of Pandora, and going round for vault signs and the like is just her surveying her domain.
