That sounds about right. He doesn't drop a lot each time and it is often complete garbage. He usually drops a legendary every 10 kills or so, and Norfleets rather less often.
In UVHM he will always drop a seraph item - Retcher, Tattler or Evolution, as well as some seraph crystals and eridium.

The only seraph raid bosses that drop a lot of gear are the Ancient Dragons. There are four of them so I guess you get more gear because of that.

Thanks. Good explanation, I thought it was bugged or something. Seems a bit cheap for a 30 minute fight. Best I got was a blue.

30 minutes? WTF are you doing? Any character can kill him "longhand" in about 5 minutes. Zer0 can bore him seconds. Of course, you need certain gear. If you are still levelling, getting all the gear then farming Hype simply is not worth the trouble.

It was on the 4th try. I had just finished the pirate booty questline so was just curious as I never fought him during previous playthroughs on my alt account. I don't have good gear on this build yet so decided to attack him with what I had which means the best thing I had was a twin hornet.

Yeah lol, don't bother with normal mode and TVHM raid boss farming, just a waste of time, unless you want to farm the dragons for eridium, as they drop a ton, and great to kill in normal mode or TVHM after you reach UVHM or OP8, because you can instakill them then, for an easy 100+ eridium, i believe.

I see. The more I play this game, the less I enjoy raids because their design forces certain gear and tactics, necessitating compounded farming just get an chievement, or even one chance at a good drop. Its not worth the trouble to simply jump in on a whim and do a raid wih whatever you have on hand.

If you are salvador, you can easily kill hyperius with minimal farming, just get any torgue launcher and a pimpernel and you can manage, or anything with zer0, just spec into b0re, haven't you seen the lvl 1 starter pistol hype god b0re?

I am Zer0, and the godbore is tricky to pull off, though you dont have to do it perfectly get a very quick b0re kill on Hype, with a few extra shots. I despise Sal and do not consider him a valid class. Exploiting with pimperhab does not count. And I was griping about raids IN GENERAL, not just Hyperius.

Yeah, I may abstain from Raids for a bit on this build.

All I know is the flying teabag where he jumps when you're on your second wind and basically humps your head while you can do nothing but shoot him in the balls is hilarious and insulting at the same time.

Hyperious also drops the hornet, and the pyrophobia often. He definitely has some designated ones, AND on top of that he can do just about any others. Which can be a blessing/pretty annoying.

Those are random drops, he isn't supposed to drop those.

He drops one unique item, which is the Kiss Of Death, a moxxi grenade which is rewarded from the "Hell hath no fury" side mission, on rare occasion. He doesn't drop the hornet or pyrophobia from HIS loot pool, he drops them as the off chance that a legendary was not a norfleet, shredifier, or sledge's shotgun. He drops a guaranteed seraph, true, but they are usually an evolution, retcher, or a tattler. He only has a small chance to drop a DIFFERENT DLC 1 seraph weapon instead of one of those. He can also drop the Ahab launcher, or that one seraph lyuda variant on rare occasion, as well as the devastator as you said, although they are in Master Gee's main loot pool, or he can drop an actualizer or seraphim, which are located at the seraph vendor in oasis.

Also, the devastator is not "bad", it's just outshined by the harold, and at a range, it is slightly better, if you can lead your shots, considering unless you enemy is large, only one of the harold's gyrojets are probably going to hit, which do less damage than one of the devastator's gyrojets and consume 3x more ammo.

Hornet from Hyperius is not "random". It's part of his loot pool, along with the norfleet, shreddifier, retcher, tattler and I forget what else.

Hornet is part of his loot pool? Huh, since when? I have never seen a hornet drop from him, on youtube, or in my own game alike. Is this from UCP?

He has dropped a ton of hornets for me, along with the other items you mention. Its common knowledge that he has an increased chance to drop it. Since we are talking about what we have personally seen him drop my sample of his drops is probably about 10x yours, based on our hours ingame. I raid a lot.

WTF is also part of his lootpool, so is the Hornet as dontu correctly stated.

The seraph sniper rifle you are referring to is the Patriot and it is not the seraph variant of the Lyuda.
It is the seraph variant of a Vladof Droog, which happens to be the same gun the Lyuda is based on aswell.
