Starbug: I've never had an issue with Bore and this old computer. The crashes only happen when you bore?
As to ideas as to how to use the skill, here's my take:
The whole idea is being able to line up multiple enemies so that a single bullet passes through them all, obviously hence the name. Even better if each baddie's hitbox lines up, but this can be challenging to specifically pull off if not on even terrain.
You can bore in or out of Deception. Ultimately, deception is used to not only see the hitboxes (some baddies have multiple hitboxes), but to be able to position yourself in such a way that you can line up your shot while your decoy grabs their attention. Because you can throw grenades without leaving Deception, singularities work best to help in lining them up, just as I'm sure you've experienced in fighing Hyperius, especially with a Zero in your party.
As you've seen when you enter deception, some single baddies like loaders and the Bunkr will have multiple hitboxes. You can bore them too.
Bore also works against shielded surveyors and constructors as the bullets pass their reflector shields similar to the way a Tresspasser works.
You can bore with many guns, not just snipers. Shotguns with multiple pellets, the Slagga, Hornet....and many others can bore. Of course, some weapons, OP to start with, are made just that more powerful with Bore.
Zero is fun, isn't he? Challenging to learn, I think that among all the toons Zero is the most complex.
I just successfully made it to OP3 solo yesterday after many tries. Am doing it without most of the usual weapons that people look for, and without a Grog, launcher, nor Harold. I received some truly excellent advice from an experienced friend here who recently critiqued my play and offered suggestions. It helped a great deal to change my way of thinking with how to play this toon. My lesson at the Peak has been that I've discovered that I hadn't been playing Zero to his full potential from 1 to OP2.
Key for me in discovering how to play Zero has been changing my battle mindset based on the critique I received. Zero is the assassin, right? Focus on guerilla tactics where deception becomes a tool to put you in position to overwhelm a target with damage, or to line up a bore on multiple enemies. Using it well means choosing your targets wisely when mobbing so as to down it immediately. Focus on one target that you know you can take down quickly and then escape until the next cooldown.
Once you gain enough skill points, the ability to apply Deathmark and kunai, as well as ambush will also help a great deal.
:)
When you get up to OP3, let me know, we can play together. It may take me another month to figure out how to make it to OP4...
If you were responding to me, HiTmAn, thanks for the advice.
My goal is to solo the peak with Zero but not using all the usual suspects (Pimpernel, Twister, Harold, a launcher, Rapier, Ladyfist, Grog, etc.). It may turn out to be impossible, but I'm giving it a go. Took me quite a few tries to get to OP3, but now that I'm in the process of correcting my playstyle issues with Zero, I am making progress. The Peak is indeed unforgiving. I like the challenge though.
I've solo'd two toons to OP8 thus far and know how tough it can be to do so even with great gear.
