Problems with physics on Borderlands 2
I recently got new specs for my pc: i5 10600k and RTX 2070

The problem is when i load into a character in borderlands 2 while having physics set to high it freezes and i have to shut down the game via task manager.

what baffles me is that borderlands 1, borderlands 1 GOTY, Borderlands the pre sequel and bordelrnads 3 work just fine with highest settings.

Anyone know what the problem might be? I Have changed so my cpu handles the physics but the game starts to lag.

I would have said PhysX but Borderlands TPS uses it and you say it is fine.

(Borderlands 1 and 3 don't use PhysX.)

I'd suggest that a good place to start would be by reinstalling the NVidia Display and PhysX drivers. Use DDU to remove the old drivers first and select clean install for the drivers when putting them back.

Also, run PhysX on GPU.

Keep PhysX on low, it is buggy and will cause issues in some areas (issues as bad as loot falling through the floor).

Do this:

Running PhysX on CPU is a bad idea.

...as is running it on the secondary on-board GPU, in case you have one (Laptops and some MoBos).

also, you could try running Physx at Medium.

Is there a purpose for your comment reply to me, other than to hit me with a "technically" for no reason? Because it's not even relevant to what OP specified.

Borderlands 2 is using a very early and buggy release of physX.
One thing that very often happens is PhysX running on the CPU instead of GPU despite an Nvidia card - you can check for that with the nvidia control-panel - there is an option for an overlay telling you if it actually runs on the GPU or not. simple fix is to just delete the ini-files, let them recreate again and use Geforce ready (yey i know i know, but it works here).

The problem with this old physX is also that not only is it a very inefficient version (just compare it to BL:TPS) but also the CPU-implementation is single-threaded x86 too.

...not "hitting" you. Adding the info to the thread. It has bugged my BL2 (and other games), and others stumbling in here while looking up info on PhysX-related issues might have that idea.
