How to make low-level Salvador enjoyable?
I'm currently playing Gaige, but I'm playing through with someone who is having issues figuring out who to play. They've gotten to level 9 with Sal (I know, not that long...) and aren't enjoying it, mainly because you require machine guns (and all they get is pistols) to have Gunzerking be worth your precious ammo, which is another issue. They are consistently running out of ammo in gunfights, especially against the likes of Midgemong. I also ran out of bullets on three types of weapon.
So is there something that is being done wrong here? And please don't respond with

Most characters are tedious until you get going on their sklltrees and accumulate some gear. Having said that, sal is THE most boring of them all.

try to find a hoarder classmod ,it regenerates ammo for the whole team, yes at low lvl you must pick up guns to get some ammo ,then throw them away if you not use them(or sell it)

Once you reach Sanctuary, you are given 4 eridium to spend, spend it on 3 more slots for your backpack. Thereafter buy more ammo slots and keep your weapons to about 4 only, pistol, sniper, shotgun or smg.

By the time you reach level 14/15 consider another 3 backpack slots.

You also get another slot for guns so you can carry 3 at all times, vary your weapons usage to balance the ammo side of it, plus open chests for ammo, dont skip em or you will get into the situation of not having enough and run out as you explained.

Pickup as many weapons as you can find and sell em, if they are not what you want.

Constantly upgrade your weapons/classmods/shields and dont be afraid to spend money on the vendors early game as some of the gear is better than what you find.

Dont spray and pray, use your ammo conservatively, in otherwords pick your shots as much as possible.

Sal is a pistol guy, he does not require machine guns, he can use smgs/ shotguns and snipers very effectively as can all the other characters.

Thanks for the tips.

i cant really help with the Salvador issue specifically (unless hes having bad lag, my comp lags bad when Salvador gunzerks, and i cant hit anything, but i found if i use Torgue guns i dont necisarilly have to). but i DID find a way to BREAK the Midgemong fight.

if he has GOTY he starts with the Contraband Sky Rocket grenade mod, which usually is a terrible mod because its hard to aim and after it goes a certain distance it just shoots up into the sky, so in an open area it usually does litterally 0 damage to anyone, but its damage is based on the character level, so for tight spots its AMAZING (if you dont get caught in the blast). just run up to the door Midgemong comes out of, and lob one of those grenades in there as soon as the door opens.

if you do it right you can kill him one shot with any character as long as your level 5 or more (should be 5 or 6 by time you fight him anyway).
