🛠️ Fix for the "Creating online session" message loop [Windows/Proton]

Welcome everyone, Im trying to help all of you that came to the forum in order to open new threads asking for help about the loop problem after the latest update. Everytime I see a new post about that topic I open it and try to help but I hope people to see this one before they keep creating posts every day.

If someone pointed you to this thread, its not your fault, its Gearbox servers fault.

Just go to this guide and follow it, I didnt create the guide but I did follow it and now I can play again (also with Mac users) without issues due to the servers being down.

If you have any problem I offer myself to help you with this downgrade. In case you want my help add me and leave a comment here or in my profile, that way I will know why you added me. Thanks for reading and lets hope 2K and Gearbox fix this game soon.

+ Current testing status of this guide:
- Not modded playthroughs: Works flawlessly.
- Playthrough with mods: Not tested yet. but Im pretty sure it will works just fine, please tell me if you try it.

This is great, but...we shouldn't have to go through a "downgrade" just to make up for 2K and Gearbox's piece of crap "patches" (read: dumpster fires). And what if the downgrade causes even more problems for online play in the future? I don't understand how we can go back to older versions of the game now that everything has "shifted" to SHiFT servers (haha). It might work for now, but if those two miserable excuses for companies get wind of people doing this, they'll surely sew that "loophole" up lickety-split.

I'm almost certain most of this is intentional on their part, or even more likely, they simply don't care. Of course Borderlands 3 is working perfectly..."Hey, since BL2 and TPS are down, why don't you guys all go buy BL3 and play that instead?" *2K rubs hands together greedily*

well lets not forget that it was fans that fixed alot of issues with the original dark souls, with that never getting sorted until they remastered the game for more money. while its not ideal it atleast works for now. it takes the same amount of effort to fix as DSFix takes and pretty much every1 used that.

i know its annoying for a dev to break older games but its really not suprising with the types of backlash they got with BL3 being temp exclusive. i agree tho i feel this may be deliberate to push us to getting 3.

no they removed the original PtD off steam if i remember right and can only buy the remaster for souls 1 now

It does if you try to play with someone that didnt applied this downgrade, its obvious.
If you want to play with a friend both should apply the downgrade and everything should work ok.
Let me know if you do it.

not sure what do you mean by details! me and my friend both downgraded and since then we cant play co op
