Why are Borderlands 3 characters so ugly?
Seriously, what gives? It's like they tried to make them ugly.

Maybe GB did it so people wouldn't make Machinima porn with the borderlands characters. Not that I would know. Somebody told me that was a thing....so it must be. 😮

I can see bricks impressive deltoids and I'm okay about it. See no reason that women would feel any differently.

I don't know man. I would love to know that as well. I look at Brick and I do realize that there are men that exist that are just like that and that doesn't bother me. It is a fact that there are men like that out there. There are also women out there that even more attractive than any female video game character ever made with bodies that are just as good looking if not even better. What are they going to do about that? Maim her? Kill her? Bully her until she commits suicide or some crap? What is this mentality?

Then it started expanding, and this is where the SJWs came in and started asking:
"Why are all character white males and white females?" "Why aren't there more "diverse" people?" "You MUST include diversity into every game." Imagine if Agent 47 from Hitman was made black just for that sake. As a matter of fact, if you play any sniper mission in multiplayer mode, you will have a black male assassin and some tanned female assassin instead of 47 and some other random character. I can guarantee you they were added like that purposely to "cover their a**es" from any criticism about diversity. Do I personally care about skin color? No. Do I care about an iconic character being changed to satisfy some group of people that don't even play video games? Yes. Luckily, IOI didn't go down that route. Had they did, I wouldn't have bought any more Hitman games in the future.

So if I were to answer OP's question about why the BL3 characters are ugly. In short:
Feminism and forced diversity.

Enemies of your fellow consumers. Thanks for enabling greed and unethical behavior.

Well, if you know you want a game you just preorder it.
BL3 Preorder already sold millions copies, it's not that rare a preorder.
TES fans will preorder TES VI no matter if it will be good or bad, if you are waiting it for years, you just preorder it as soon as you can.

The release is in 3 months by the way, not 6.

Release is September 13th 2019, that is just over 5 months away (so 6 months was reasonably close as opposed to 3). For PC digital platforms other than Epic, that will not be allowed until April 2020.

You right, i was still asleep :P well ok 5 months but still, why not. I mean, why is right a preorder on steam, but not on another store?

People (women especially) are feeling threatened by a f*cking video game and would rather blame anything else instead of addressing their own flaws. Whether physical (saying being fat is ok for example, which it isn't) or moral flaws. "But how will men ever love me for my fatass if these women in games are so beautiful?!"
You're quoting some opinion piece on some specialist website about bulimia. Most women (including those you call "fatass") have just as little trouble playing as Maya as fat neckbeards have playing as Axton.

That Borderlands can be enjoyed by people of all genders and shapes and that whining about SJWs is pathetic

It is not about women playing female characters. It is about women seeking attention from men that won't give them any and they are blaming video games instead of trying to improve themselves as individuals.

These people complaining about "impossible standards" and diversity don't even play these games. I don't know what their issue is. Why do they see the need to add stuff that no one cares about? If a game was made from scratch as having a, say, a black protagonist that was WELL WRITTEN, then by all means have that in the game. I have no problem with Roland in BL2. I think he was a great character before he died a stereotypical hollywood death (black guys always die in movies for some reason).

I DO NOT DISAGREE. BL2 (before the review bombing) had a great review record of overwhelmingly positive. No one cared about crap like skin color or sexual orientation. Everyone enjoyed the game for what it was regardless of all that. Yet for some reason they still feel the need to add things that feel almost out of place in borderlands as a series.

I'm glad you've no problem with Roland. Unfortunately it doesn't improve or take away from the weird philosophy behind what you're saying. Whether the character is black, white or orange shouldn't matter one bit. Well written or not.

Though it's true that Ellie sets a level of unattainable beauty that few women can ever hope to achieve.

I think you're creating an issue that just does not exist.

Why must every thread on this forum eventually turn to attacks on perceived (or imagined) culture-war enemies?

I tell ya, the ascendancy of the forum-free Epic Games Store cannot come quickly enough.
Killzone Apr 8, 2019 @ 11:49am
If you're making your characters just to fill a current day virtue quota, then its an issue.

Not saying BL3 is doing that, just that it happens a lot now and the entertainment built around is dull and void of any value, in my opinion.

Yes. I completely agree. Did you see the controversy surrounding Battlefield 5? Shoehorning women in a WW2 era which is factually inaccurate. All what DICE had to do was create some alternate history/setting like the Wolfenstein games and then do whatever they want.

An example of "forced diversity" that I mentioned before is this:

I think people are missing the point with this thread. It really doesn't come down to other than them being drawn badly. I mean even the reworked characters from earlier Borderlands just don't look right.
Starbug Apr 8, 2019 @ 12:13pm
Ancient Greece didn't have black people then? Achilles was snow white?

Why you care is what I'd rather know.
