Lower your graphics settings?
Tmzasz Apr 7, 2019 @ 2:46am
um kinda sounds like you got something else going on in the background eating the vram up thats an 11gb card

are you mining while playing or something else like that?

I have played a bit of BL2 with UHD Texture pack, at both 1440p and 4K; all been good.

I have 1080 Ti.

I'll monitor video RAM use though, and report back.

i hit like 5gb on my 4k tv playing bl2 with the uhd pack and im just running a 1080 so something else is happening there to make it consume over 11gb of vram

Try reinstalling drivers?.. If that doesn't work it has to be a hardware problem. I also have a 1080TI and am running 62fps locked on 1440P with the UHD texture pack. Although my VRAM seems to be quite alot used currently on 7341MB used but i have been playing about 5hours now without restart

I must be doing something wrong. I only recorded 1.8GB of video RAM used at 4K.

Only 1.5GB video RAM at 1440p.

1080 Ti.

EDIT: Checked I have all my settings to max.

1440p native resolution. Only using about 1.6GB vid RAM. No idea how you folks are using 5GB-10GB.

1.6GB vid RAM does seem a bit low though for UHD Textures.

Although I am not sure BL2 is working with Nvidia DSR at 4K, since VRAM usage doesn't really increase.

well i have 2 monitors so sometimes i have a web browser open on the other one so that could account for a little bit of the extra vram on mine but ive never heard of a game by itself eating all 11gb of ram on the 1080 ti so its either a bad gpu, bad drivers, or something stupid like trying to mine some coin while playing ( few viruses out there do this now )

It seems as if the game is only seeing 3gb of vram:

Hey bud I ran into the same issue. Have you edited the ini files? Specifically OnlyStreamInTextures=False in the WillowEngine.ini? I had edited that to true so I could force the high res textures to always load in (by default they only come in when you get closer, obvious when using a scoped weapon). I put it back to false and am hoping that fixes it.

I was only using about 2 gb of VRAM when it happened, though.

That's normal. I get the same on my GTX 1080. Probably related to BL2 being a 32-bit DX9 game. The 3GB/4GB VRAM limit was a big reason why WinXP/32-bit and DX9 needed to be retired as games began to use more than that.

Windows 10 Creator's Update back in 2017 addressed this limit, however games or API injectors like ENBSeries need to be programmed to use it and BL2 obviously has not been. You can actually test how much VRAM your OS will allow DX9 games to use with this tool[enbdev.com] and running VRamSizeDX9.exe

For myself, it reports 24416Mb, which is exactly what Task Manager reports[imgur.com] (8GB dedicated VRAM + 16GB Shared RAM)

But in BL2, here's my GPU log:

I still wouldn't expect it to be crashing out though from my own experience with the game so far. I'm running it at 3840x2400 (2560x1600 monitor + 3X DSR) and it uses 99-100% of the 3GB of VRAM the game can see but I've been playing for about 40 hours with the HD pack and not had any crashes. It's just pegged at 3GB usage always.

So for "Ran out of video memory exiting" does simply lowering the graphics solve that issue? Too bad, because it sort of makes the newly released ultra HD textures not relevant if I can't use them reliably.

Lol I am on 1080p with the 4K texture pack and it doesn't even reach 4gb of Vram [well it's quite obvious why] xD

Mine started doing it too. It was the last windows update. Uninstall it.
Killzone Apr 7, 2019 @ 10:27pm
Had the same issue with a tweaked WillowEngine.ini

I had to remove NumStreamedMips=0 from all TEXTUREGROUP_* except Shadowmap under [SystemSettings]

And change back a couple of MinMagFilter=Aniso to Linear.
