What does "aim down the sights" means?

Zer0's skill "Kill C0nfirmed" increases your critical hit damage while you are "aiming down the sights".

What does that even mean?

Holding right mouse button. To aim down the sights. Or down a scope if the weapon has a scope instead of iron sights.

Except not all weapons have scopes. It's literally aiming down the sights of your weapon instead of hip firing.
