No sound when starting Borderlands 2
Hey guys, as the title suggests I am having trouble with the games audio. I looked up different fixes for this already, but it was about a month ago so I can't quite remember what it was that I did to be honest. Still, none of it seemed to help. Any ideas on how to fix this? The launcher plays sound, but the game itself doesn't.

Tried checking volume mixer? You may have muted it from there some time ago but forgot to unmute it.
This came from someone @ Gearbox on their official forum

Verify your game cache
· Load Steam.
· From the Library section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu.
· Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game cache” button.
· Steam will match the local files to the cloud files, and fix any errors it encounters.
*2. Reinstall DirectX *
· In the Steam installation folder of the game you’re having trouble with, there will be typically be a DirectX setup package.
· Example file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist\DirectXRedistCutdown
· Find and run DXSETUP.exe

Additional Software retrieval
· Navigate to your game’s steam folder – there will typically be another Redist folder.
· Example file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist
· In this folder you will find one or more VcRedist installation packages. Run each of them!
· You should also see a file called dotNETFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe. Run it!
· During the installation of the VcRedist files, once again you may be prompted to either ‘uninstall’ or ‘repair’ them. Choose ‘repair’ in that case.
· After you installed all the files, please reboot the computer (mandatory)

Sorry for not getting back to you guys sooner. Firstly, I checked the volume mixer already and that's not the issue. I will go through your suggestions soon Blooby and hopefully that helps fix the issue :).

Unfortunately neither of the suggestions you gave me worked :\ dunno what else to do.

I'm having the same with the game, as you said the launcher does works but the game won't play any sound. Tried multiple things like changing my audio settings but nothing seems to fix this problem.

@iCorvus I didn't reply to this because I fixed the problem. If you are running razer synapse, uninstall that. It messes with bl2 for some reason. If that's not it then idk man. I'm guessing you fixed your issue since then though.

I also use Razer Synapse, yet the game works fine for me. It must have been something to do with the settings.

Huh, that's weird. I tried messing with the settings alot but nothing seemed to fix it and after a long time of not wanting to uninstall, i reluctantly uninstalled and my mouse proceeded to do some weird af stuff but eventually fixed it.
