Unable to locate config files

everytime i try to launch borderlands 2 i get the screen saying "unable to locate configuration files" i have reinstalled and unistalled the game several times and each time is the same, please help if possible

i did that it said the missing file will be reacquired

are you using more than one hard drive ? i.e. external drive.

nope only my main one on my laptop

Your security software could be preventing the game writing them to the location in My Games. I know Bit Defender tends to prevent things writing there, calling it a protected area.

im currently redownloading the dlc to see if that will solve it

Documents/my games/Borderlands 2/willowgame/savedata/<your steam ID as folder name>/
You should have profile.bin and save0001.sav etc here.

Documents\my games\borderlands 2\willowgame\Config
You should have your *.ini config files here.

Nothing, if they are where they belong, they are there, if not then something is preventing them being written. If your config files are where they belong then the game should find them.

Start looking at your system to determine what is preventing it. You should find them here.
C:\Users\<your name on the pc>\Documents\my games\borderlands 2\willowgame\Config

Save files and profile.bin should be found at.
C:\Users\<your name on the PC>\Documents\my games\borderlands 2\willowgame\savedata\<your steam id number >

I know that Bit Defender prevents Borderlands 2 writing because Documents is a protected folder

im launching it and it wont start still. i checked and everythings there. but i still get the message "unable to locate config files launcher with close now"

Right click Borderlands 2 in your Steam library, select properties, click Set launch options and enter -nolauncher
See if the game will load.
