you need to set it in Nvidia Control Panel. get rid of GeForce Experience, i did.

yea that's what i meant sorry, should i really delete experience? I just downloaded it recently.

yeah, i got rid of it after it supposedly " improved " my gaming experience. made it worse instead.

now, for Nvidia Control Panel, you are using Set Physx Configuration, and choosing your GPU ?
if it's set to Auto-select, that may be why you're having problems.

I've set it to gpu, it still uses the cpu for whatever reason
Do I have to close out of the control panel or something for it to apply?
I'm gonna try setting it to cpu now and see if it makes the gpu work

if you've got the in-game Physx setting on low, it'll say CPU not GPU.
set Physx to Medium and see.

go to Documents > My games > Borderlands 2 > WillowGame > Config >
open WillowEngine.ini, scroll to the bottom and find this :

AppCompat]
MeasuredCPUScore=83.972816
CompatLevelComposite=5
CompatLevelCPU=5
CompatLevelGPU=5

just match the last 3 lines, then save. see if that helps.

I used to tinker a lot with nVidia settings, and BL2 would always use the CPU for the PhysX effects, no matter what I set in Windows, nVidia software, or the game. Now that I have a new PC with an i5-8500, it doesn't matter anymore as it can easily handle at least medium PhysX. Then disabled it anyway because I thought it was kinda fancy but didn't really add anything to the experience.
