It hasn't been updated to cover the recent cap increase, but it should give you an idea of the size of the problem you are facing.
Quick look, level 82, old OP8 level enemies.
Chief Ngwatu - 30 Million hp.
Voracidous the Invincible - 7.09 Billion hp
For a giggle, the level 83 Dexiduous (old OP8)
Dexiduous the Invincible - 1777 Billion hp.
Not as misprint, 1.777 Trillion hp and the highest number in the game. You gonna need lots of bullets,
See what the damage numbers are on the launcher. Compare that to Voracidous. See why you are hardly doing any damage?
The game's like 8 years old at this point, there are tons of guides online for optimising builds, finding the best gear, and some even focused on this particular fight, the majority of which don't 'exploit or cheat'. Worst comes to worst, go on matchmaking and actually ask people for help, they'll probably be happy to.
The character you are using will also affect the plan. Not all of the vault hunters are good at fighting Vorac, so the finer details of the Plan will change, depending on who is doing the fighting and to a lesser extent, what gear they have.
Vorac is arguably the most difficult of the raid bosses because of the huge health and the huge shield he ends up with if the fight goes badly. Not handling the fight itself properly will see him with a full shield, lot of health and at this point, it is pretty much Game Over.
There is specific gear that is almost essential for whichever character is taking him on. You do need a Trespasser or the new sniper from the Lilith DLC, the Amigo Sincero (sp?). These guns allow you to bypass an enemy shield and kill them without the shield going down. You use this to kill chief Ngwatu when he has the shield. If you do this successfully, Vorac will not take the chief's shield and you will have more of a chance.
A Slagga is also very useful for slagging duties. Big mag, high fire rate and high slag chance make this very useful during the fight.
Moxxi weapon for healing helps a lot. In the later stages of the fight Vorac's nova is Nasty. "Wow, where did my shield go to and why am I at health gate all of a sudden?" There will be more of them shortly, so you do need something that will keep you alive.
At the start, Vorac does not have a shield and is susceptible to fire damage. He is not immune to slag, but will only remain slagged for a couple of seconds. (Slagga!)
At the beginning when he has a lot of health and the chief is still alive he is not very aggressive so it is easier to take his health down. The chief starts off with the shield and will give it to Vorac during the fight. If the chief is killed when Vorac has the shield, he will keep it. The chief will take the shield back from Vorac after a while so Vorac is easier to damage and still isn't overly aggressive.
When Vorac's health reaches a certain stage he will attack and kill the chief and take his shield and go into super aggressive rage mode. As soon as the chief is killed Vorac goes into rage mode anyway, but if the chief was wearing the shield when you killed him, Vorac will not be able to take it.
This is the aim of the fight. Damage Vorac as much as possible while he is unshielded. Don't waste your ammo on him while he has the shield but try to keep the chief alive until he can take the shield from Vorac again.
If it all goes to plan, you can take Vorac's health down to just above the point he will go into rage mode and then kill the chief with the Trespasser so Vorac won't take his shield.
The fight is winnable now. If it all goes wrong early and Vorac ends up shielded with a lot of his health, it is pretty much Game Over.
Unless you are Salvador and want Interfacers, or want to play with the Hawk Eye there really isn't a lot else worthwhile about it.
There is a way to cheese it and go under his arena and kill him at your leisure and his novas will do nothing to you. You need to be able to grenade jump. YouTube is your friend here.
There are lots of shotguns in the game. Have a look at the Torgue Ravager. It is a beast anyway and with Krieg's explosive boots could be something super powerful.
Oops. :)
