Early in the story missions around where you are, the quantities of Eridium available to you are low ~ they're desired for increasing your ammo slots. Early in the story missions if the game is saved and quit after entering Bloodshot Stronghold an exit back to Three Horns Divide will spawn Badmaw again for a high chance at getting up to 4 Eridium. Later in the story missions BNK3R and the Warrior can drop high quantities of Eridium. In DLCs The Handsome Sorcerer, Handsome Dragon, and the Ancient Dragons of Destruction can all drop high quantities of Eridium, with the Dragons regularly providing the most.
In the BL2 DLCs, these will be tough if not impossible at lvl 19 but later the enemies in the Tina DLC can drop the highest quantities of Eridium in the game e.g. Handsome Sorcerer, Handsome Dragon, Ancient Dragons of Destruction all drop lots of Eridium with Ancient Dragons the most. Using the Flamerock Slots will give Eridium most efficiently with 4 players as each one gained goes to each player.
As a fun aside, there was another most challenging quest & boss that branched off from the original Vault of the Warrior map but the quest & its boss were cancelled by GBX just before the game was released ~ you can find it now at the highest stages of TPS lol. [friends asked: Claptastic DLC mission "The Temple of Boom" turn mission into Gladstone for a Shield of Ages best tank shield in~game]
This game isn't a speed test though some players enjoy competing in those which are available & monitored at the GBX forums site.
Sanctuary is BY FAR the easiest and fastest and easiest way to farm Eridium.
Bounce between the Crimson Raider HQ (start at the HQ), and Scooter's garage. Log out and then back in EVERY TIME YOU GET A BAR, no matter what.
It's tedious and monotonous, but it will yield at least couple Eridium bars every couple minutes. Frequently scored a 4 block Eridium.
As a test, I started with 9 Eridium. An hour later, I have 84 Eridium.
Bring snacks.
Don't waste time farming in Normal mode. You don't need the either the experience or the gear. The experience will actually be (somewhat) detrimental, as you're likely to be over-leveled at the start of UVHM.
No, it really is not.
Yeah, and if you'd spent that time farming BNK-3R, you'd have hit the Eridium cap instead. But I'll reiterate: Don't farm in Normal mode. I'm not saying don't kill a boss a few times if you happen to know he drops a weapon you like and you want one, but don't over do it.
Yes, exactly. Go fight a boss instead, you'll get more Eridium, get it faster, and have more fun.
