Do skins save per account or per character?

So i've been wondering for some time.
When you pick up heads for different characters, do you unlock them on those other characters or do you just waste a skin/head?

heads and skins are unlocked per Character. if you pick up a Siren head with your Axton, it will still unlock for your Siren Character.
edit : the game will tell you if you pick up one that's already unlocked.

Yeah, you unlock 'em, like Draekus said. It also saves, so if you get a ton of heads and skins for, oh say, Krieg, you can use 'em for any playthrough you do for him. Same with any character.

What the others said, but I think that's what you meant by "per account" actually, not "per character". Unlock a Salvador head/skin once with Maya and it will be available for all your Salvadors at any time forever, right from character creation. Have ten Salvadors and give them all the same head/skin, doesn't matter.

Per account, you can use them on the appropriate characters as many times as you want. The cosmetics are for specific characters though, so a Maya head or skin only works on Maya.

Characters are saved in .sav files.

Heads, skins, Golden Keys, Badass Ranks (and Claptrap's Stash) are saved in a special file known as the Profile.bin file. (Which is also saved in the same folder as the .sav files).

I strongly suggest (Googling the path to your save folder and) making a backup of your entire save folder. Do so periodically. Often even.
