Why do people think DPUH is the best gun in the game?

i've heard the Devastator isn't really good, but heard about the Pocket Rocket being somewhat good

I'm not a big fan of the Torgue explosive pistols in BL2 but you shouldn't believe what you hear ~ try out the Double Penetrating Devastator to see for yourself. It does huge damage but is mainly for close~range cos accuracy is poor ~ similar to shotguns ~ I'd put it in the same league as DPUH & Pocket Rocket as long as used close~range ~ nice thing about it is it's in the Seraph machines so you can always buy an on~level one cheap which makes it a convenient replacement gun til you have time to farm the real deal (y)

It's versatile, works with everyone, you don't need a Bee to make it work (but works great with it), requires no fancy tricks to use it (like the pimp/ahab), and it KICKS MAJOR A**!!

That gun has seriously saved my life with probably every BL2 vault hunter. It really shines in UVHM, because it retains it's power, in spite of the harder enemies. Some other guns can't really do that, even with a Bee shield. Also, it looks cool.

It's good, TOO good if you ask me. It's one of those top tier guns that are a part of 90% of OP8 builds because it wrecks face with little to no effort and is so easy to obtain. It does absurd damage that makes UVHM a lot easier to manage.

I don't use it anymore because it became so ubiquitous and there are much more fun, interesting, and underused guns in the game to play with.

^ yep. I haven't had it in my OP8 kit for years ~ imho it's just no fun. It was a useful crutch in my early days on BL2 but lost its appeal to other top pistols that are much preferred.

There's a line between something being amazing, and something being considered the best. DPUH is amazing, no doubt, but why do people think its the number 1 gun?

id say it depends on who ur playing as, a gunzerker with a DPUH and grog nozzle is a force to be reckoned with, the insane dps from the dpuh and money ♥♥♥♥ with a +6 moneyshot class mod and the skill that lets any "extra dmg from a kill stack on ur next shot" all adds up to be even more dps for a dpuh and with that wide shoot range+splash dmg also holding the grog nozzle while shooting with DPUH will heal you massivly,

at the same time axton the commando has skills that can boost grenade dmg witch also boost explosive splash dmg from guns (the DPUH being 1 of them) so stacking the grenade bonus dmg can make the splash on the harold insane being a wide spread with decent splash distance

maya- u can phaselock a badass as example that could normally have a shield ect and possible down you, whiles its phases it gets slagged and cant attack you so you can get really close with the DPUH and have every pellet hit for massive dmg

mechromancer- pretty basic but anarchy+DPUH=wide spread, MASSIVE DAMAGE

in short thats 4 of the 6 charaters that can all make really good use of the DPUH so in my oppion it is the best because its interchangable for different account builds and i personally like to use it for 2nd winds when im out of rockets

It's quite nice with Zer0 specced into Tw0 Fang as well. Pair that with a Stalker/Rogue com and the results are pretty awesome.
