exec Patch.txt not working and instead showing up as chat msg

As the title says, im trying to load the unofficial patch and it keeps putting it in chat. No i am not opening up the chat box i am indeed opening up console and typing what the website says: "exec Patch.txt" but it just shows up in chat. Any clue why?

use the auto patcher? simply putting patch.exe in binaries is not enough

Like the Phoenix said, you need to modify your Borderlands2.exe, the patcher should be in the UCP Package and it even lets you assign your console key (either "~" or "F6").
After the patch is applied you can load the UCP via command. You have to be in the Main Menu, if the file has been run you should see some green Text pop up telling you the UCP should have been activated, to be sure it is advised to check a skill tree, that has been modified.
From the top of my head: Zer0 has Fearless and Grim switched places, so Fearless is in the Bloodshed tree.

yoo a little late, i just had this issue and fixed it! open up the blcmm editor and load the ucp. click tools and go to 'set up game for mods'. once in, check if 'Hexedit' is active/installed. if it is, revert it and re-activate it, if not then activate that ♥♥♥♥! save to the patch.txt file and run BL2 :)
